Annie let out a low whistle. " Welp. What side're you taking?"

Mia blinked. " What."

" Side. Y'know. Do you take Emma's side or Morro's?"

Mia shrugged. " I dunno. What side are YOU taking?"

" I don't know! Why else do you think I asked YOU?"

Mia shrugged helplessly. " I dunno! I don't even know how this STARTED!"

* Few hours earlier....*

" I CAN'T BELIVE YOU LOCKED THE CAT IN THE BATHROOM FOR THREE HOURS!"

" WELL HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW HE SLIPPED IN THERE?!"

" MAYBE BECAUSE YOU'RE A LITERAL GHOST?!"

Blackie meowed in disbelief. " This isn't good."

Annie, who was holding a poor shaking Chico, nodded in agreement. " Yeah. Even Chico's getting worried."

Mia blinked. " ... What is going on?"

* Present*

Blackie flicked his tail, looking unimpressed. "I swear, you humans have the emotional control of a wet paper bag."

Chico, still trembling in Annie's arms, let out a tiny, pitiful meow.

Mia sighed. "Okay, so... how do we fix this?"

Annie shrugged. "I was hoping you'd know."

Blackie scoffed. "Oh, please. You don't fix a fight like this. You outlast it. Like a storm. Or a really bad movie." He gave his paw a lick before adding, "Besides, I wouldn't forgive someone who locked me in the bathroom."

Chico whimpered, burying his face in Annie's sleeve.

"Not helping," Mia muttered.

"Not my job," Blackie shot back.

A loud thud came from the other room, followed by Emma yelling, "I'M NEVER SPEAKING TO YOU AGAIN, MORRO!"

"GOOD! PEACE AND QUIET AT LAST!" Morro shouted back.

Mia winced. "Yeah, this is going great."

Chico whimpered louder. Annie sighed and patted his head. "Okay, but like... do we actually do something? Or just wait it out?"

Blackie hopped onto the table, curling his tail neatly around his paws. "Well, if you must interfere, you could always force them into the same room and make them talk it out." He smirked. "Like a couple of reasonable adults."

Mia and Annie exchanged glances.

"...Yeah, I don't think that'll work," Annie admitted.

"Nope," Mia agreed.

Blackie sighed dramatically. "Then I guess we're all doomed."
