“ Bye, bye!”
Before Jay could say something, anything, Mia shut the door, then turned to his cat. “ That went well.”
Her cat meowed. “ Right.”
Mia rolled her eyes. “ Anyway……”
Emma  walked out of  Mia’s room, earring a white cloth with a really creepy face. “ How do I look??”
Mia turned, and her face turned horrified. “ MONSTER!”
Emma laughed. “ Mimi, it’s me.”
Mia squinted his eyes and sighed. “ Oh, my goodness. Em, you scared me!”
Emma grinned. “ Sorry.”
Annie walked into the front door, holding three foam pumpkins. “ Hey, girls. Look what I found in the arts and crafts store!”
The two girls gasped.
“ You’re a GENIUS!” Emma squealed.
Mia got the carving tools from her room and set them up at the dining table. “ You two get started on that. I have to make the candy apples.”
“ You might like what I have outside.” Annie said as she took her craft materials out of her bags.
Mia raised a brow but compiled anyway.
Blackie, ever the curious yet sassy feline, hopped onto Mia’s shoulders. “ Let us go, peasant.’
Mia raised a brow. “ Sure you don’t wanna be a king for halloween?”
Blackie scoffed. “ Of course not. Kings are quite overrated. Now, a sassy feline. THAT, my dear, is underrated.”
Mia rolled her eyes. “ Sure, your highness. Sure.”
“ Mia, hurry!” Emma called. “ It’s almost time for the kids to come!”
Mia nodded, ran out the door, and gasped.
Annie had bought ten bags full of crispy red apples, sprinkles, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, googly eyes, and wooden sticks.
“ THANKS, ANN!” Mia yelled.
“ YOU’RE WELCOME!” Annie yelled back. “ NOW HURRY!”
Mia nodded and used her wind powers to levitate the bags and heaved them inside, then set them down.
“ Are the boys working on the haunted house?” Mia asked.
Annie nodded and passed Mia an apron. “ You know it!”
“ Good. Em, you and me make the apples. Annie, you help the boys with the funhouse.”
Annie nodded and took a hammer out of her hair. “ I can’t wait!”
Emma started. “Why do you keep a hammer in your hair?”
“ You never know when you’ll need one.”
“ Right.” Blackie said sarcastically. “ Because at any second you’re gonna need to make someone unconscious.”
Mia grabbed her cat. “ Oh, he didn’t mean that…..” Mia said nervously.
Annie laughed. “ Don’t worry. I don’t mind.”
Emma still looked surprised. " But why would you use it as something to keep your hair from falling apart? Li-"
" Okay, okay, enough about the hammer!" Mia exclaimed from the kitchen. " Em, help me!"
Emma nodded. " Yeah. Good point."
