At your own pace (MC x Alan)

The two first years of Vagastrom stared as you walked past them into the Pit.

"You seriously think Cap' and her are a thing?"
Leo raised and inquisitive brow, a lollipop in his mouth.

"I saw them, superglued to one another the other day."
Sho made a face as he recalled the sight.

"It's like, they never ever talk to each other outside though."
Leo said, typing something down on his phone.

Their voices trailed off as you entered the Pit, covered by the clashing of bodies on metals and occasional cheers.
Today wasn't match day, so the usual crowd was reduced by half.

Several eyes followed you as you made your way farther in, you gave them a polite smile and a tiny head nod.

It's not often the people within the Pit cared much about you despite occasional looks but there were significantly more today.

Big hands scooped you into an embrace,
"I told you to wait outside, it's dangerous in here."
Alan's voice was stern despite his soft gaze on you.

"But I've been here so many times,"
You were confused as to why he was whispering but you followed suite.

"Those were free days, not many people would be in here this fired up. I don't want any accidents."
He patted your head and gave it a kiss.

Alan looked up past you, and you noticed a twitch in his eyes.

"Let's go for a drive."

------------------------☆---------------------------

It was quite obvious something caused him to be slightly on edge but you didn't know what.

His fingers tapped the steering wheel rhythmically, it's something he does when stressed.

...

"I won't go into the Pit next time unless it's a free day."

Perhaps this was what caused him to be anxious, you thought.

Did he make you feel bad for earlier? Now he felt terrible.
"MC...no, it's not your fault, i just-"

He stopped himself.
How should he put this?
If he told you this, how would you think of him?

"Nevermind that anymore. Is there anything you want to eat?"
Alan signalled to the shops outside.

Your lips pursed into a thin line, it seemed there really was something on his mind.
"How about grilled food?"

The idea lifted his spirits a little, as he nodded and turned to park his car.

Alan opened your door and offered his hand which you took, deciding not to let your worries ruin your date.

"Doesn't he usually keep things on his mind?"
Haru said, zooming around, grabbing different packs of animal food.

"I know, but if there is a problem he should've told me already."
You frowned, it's been a few days since the date, and everything seemed fine with Alan, but you can't shake this feeling off you.

"Maybe he doesn't want you to worry."
Haru shrugged.

"It's making me worry more when he doesn't tell me about it..."

Peekaboo made a whiny noise, snapping you back into focus when you realised you weren't feeding him properly.
"Sorry, Peekaboo,"

"Then you could ask him about? You know, talk it out?"
The Jabberwock Captain suggested, now moved on to cleaning cages.
"I really don't know much about Alan, but maybe if it's you, he'll be willing to tell you."
