(I literally woke up with this idea. I never ran to type this fast. @Willowsotaku This one's for you. q(≧▽≦q) it's on the shorter side, but it means its sweeter 📢📢🗣️🗣️🔥. okay that's for all of you to decide, enjoy!)
A cool breeze guided the freshly browned leaves to the ground, leaving behind a partially bald tree.
The boy picked up the fallen leaf, cradling it in his palm, brows knitting ever so slightly at the sight of it.
Autumn had arrived yet again.
Towa never liked the cycling seasons, in fact, he never liked the idea of change at all. Even if the seasons changed all year round, the feeling of getting used to something unfamiliar always made him queasy.
He had prayed and wished for a day he could be the one in control of it, and so his wish did come true, in the form of a curse.
He squeezed the dried leaf in his hands gently and pulled it close to his chest.
Yet, even with the power to control the weather, the fallen leaves in his hand and ground served as a reminder that it was futile.
The last leaf glided down and the once magnificent tree before him was now nothing more than the skeleton of what it used to be.
"There, there, Towa."
A hand patted his shoulder for comfort. It was Haru, the only respectable senior in the boy's opinion. The red haired ghoul might not have been the most tactful when it came to reading social cues, but he never had a problem deciphering how Towa felt. Even when the boy had never spoken before.
"It'll be green again next year, it's part of a cycle, so don't worry too much."
Towa only blinked at him before turning back to the giant trunk without saying a word. His hand softly pressed on the bark as he leaned towards it, as if giving it an embrace.
Next year, it'll return...
------------------------☆---------------------------
Towa sat cross-legged on the floor, hands gliding across the grass absentmindedly. One moment, he had just been on the capybus blowing bubbles, and enjoying the view from on top of the giant anomaly, the next, he was requested to stay where he was by Haru while the red haired ghoul tended the electrocuted capybara.
"Excuse me!"
Somebody called out from behind him. It was an unfamiliar voice.
He turned to find a girl down the hills, carrying a huge carton in her arms, with a mildly apprehensive look on her face.
Must've been another anomaly delivery for Haru. It wasn't uncommon for the house captain to pile up on those animals, and after all, they were having a Safari fund raising event at the moment.
So, Towa simply went back to grazing the field with his hands.
"I'm looking for the Jabberwock dormitory!"
At that, the boy's ears perked up. Was it a new housemate? Only this year, did Jabberwock gain one new member. Haru had brought him to meet Towa earlier on but the first year disappeared right after Haru left as well.
Towa made his way down the hill to greet the new member, proper this time. However, as soon as he locked eyes with her, something curious stirred within him. Her eyes held so much emotion, yet there was something unwavering about them.
Before he knew it, the girl before him was powdered in pink, her eyes widened at his persistent stare and he could feel her hitch a breath. Nevertheless, Towa only leaned in closer, looking into her eyes like it was an alluring portal that sucked him in.
