When Taehyung and Jungkook entered the apartment, Jungkook’s eyes immediately wandered, taking in the space.

“You’ve got a nice place, Kim,” he commented, genuinely impressed with the cozy, minimalist aesthetic of the apartment.

“Yeah, I guess,” Taehyung replied with a soft shrug, his voice low as he led Jungkook toward the couch.

After a moment of awkward silence, Taehyung offered, “Do you want something to eat?” He gave a faint smile but quickly regretted the offer as he remembered how empty his fridge was.

Jungkook raised an eyebrow at him, amused. “Are you sure you even have food?” he teased, getting up from the couch and heading straight to the fridge without waiting for permission. “Let me just grab some water.”

The moment Jungkook opened the fridge, his expression changed from casual amusement to utter shock. The fridge was empty—not just low on groceries, but completely barren.

Jungkook slammed the fridge door shut and turned to Taehyung, his eyes narrowing.

“Are you serious right now?” Jungkook asked, his voice sharper than Taehyung expected.

“Your fridge is literally empty, Taehyung. What the hell have you been eating?”

Taehyung blinked, caught off guard by Jungkook’s sudden concern. He didn’t expect this level of reaction from him.

“I’ve… been busy,” Taehyung muttered, unable to meet Jungkook’s eyes.

“It’s just been hard to keep up with everything—exams, work...”

“Busy?” Jungkook scoffed, clearly frustrated. “That’s not an excuse to starve yourself, Kim."

"You’re overworking yourself, and for what? Look at you.” His voice softened slightly, but there was still an edge of worry in it. “I don’t like seeing you like this.”

Taehyung shifted uncomfortably, surprised at how much Jungkook seemed to care. He expected teasing, but not genuine concern.

However, he remained silent, knowing deep down that everything Jungkook was saying was right. His health had taken a backseat during exams, and he hadn’t even realized how far he’d let things go.

Jungkook took a deep breath, visibly trying to calm himself down.

“You scared the shit out of me when I found you like that on the stairs, Taehyung. You looked… lifeless. You need to take better care of yourself,” he added quietly, his frustration giving way to genuine worry.

Taehyung looked down, feeling a wave of guilt wash over him. “I know,” he whispered softly. “I’ll try.”

Jungkook wasn’t done, though. “No ‘I’ll try,’ Kim. You will take care of yourself. Got it?”

Taehyung nodded, his lips pressed into a thin line. “Got it.”

After a brief silence, Jungkook softened, rubbing the back of his neck. “Alright. Let’s fix this. I’ll order food.”

Without waiting for Taehyung’s response, Jungkook pulled out his phone and ordered enough food for the both of them.

They sat on the couch, the mood between them lighter than before. Taehyung finally broke the silence, his voice still soft but warmer. “Thanks… for, you know, caring.”

Jungkook glanced at him, his usual playful smirk making a brief appearance. “I’m not heartless, Kim. Just don’t make it a habit, okay? I can’t keep rescuing you off stairs.”

Taehyung let out a small chuckle, feeling a bit more at ease now. “I’ll try not to.”

When the food arrived, Jungkook wasted no time serving Taehyung a large portion, ignoring Taehyung’s half-hearted protest.

“Eat up,” Jungkook said firmly, pushing the plate toward him. “You need it more than I do.”

Taehyung stared at the plate for a moment, feeling strangely warm at the gesture.

This side of Jungkook… it’s nice

he thought, as he began to eat. The meal was quiet at first, the exhaustion still weighing heavily on Taehyung’s shoulders, but eventually, they began to chat casually.

“So, where are you from?” Jungkook asked between bites, curious.

Taehyung swallowed before answering. “Originally, we’re from Daegu,” he said.

“But we moved to Seoul because of my dad’s work. He’s in the army, and my mom’s a doctor.” His voice softened slightly when mentioning them.

Jungkook raised his eyebrows. “Damn, that’s pretty cool. Must’ve been tough moving around all the time.”

“Yeah,” Taehyung nodded. “But I got used to it. What about you?”

Jungkook leaned back in his chair, looking thoughtful for a moment. “We’re from Daegu too,” he said, his voice a bit more casual.

“I haven’t seen them in a while, though. I’ve been busy with school and... other stuff.”

Taehyung sensed the slight hesitation in Jungkook’s voice but didn’t press further. Instead, he smiled softly. “Glad to know we have something in common atleast.”

Jungkook smirked, his playful side returning. “Oh princess we've so much in common. You never know.”

Taehyung chuckled, feeling lighter now that the conversation had shifted to more relaxed topics.

As they continued talking, he found himself genuinely enjoying Jungkook’s company—this side of him, the one that wasn’t always teasing or flirty, but kind and thoughtful, was refreshing.

When they finally finished their meal, Taehyung leaned back on the couch, feeling fuller and more relaxed than he had in days.

“Thanks for this, Jeon,” he said, his voice sincere. “I needed it.”

Jungkook gave him a lopsided grin. “No problem, Kim. Just make sure you actually take care of yourself from now on.”

Taehyung nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. “I will.”

Jungkook lay in his bed, staring at the ceiling, his mind swirling with thoughts about the day.

He couldn't shake the image of Taehyung lying on the stairs, pale and lifeless. That had genuinely worried him, more than he would have expected. His chest still felt tight thinking about it.

"Kim really needs to take better care of himself," he muttered under his breath, his fingers drumming on his chest.

His mind then drifted to their conversations at Taehyung's apartment. It surprised him how much he’d enjoyed Taehyung's company.

Despite all the bickering and tension, sitting there with Taehyung had felt... nice.

He found himself smiling as he remembered the way Taehyung shyly accepted the food, the way they spoke about their families.

I wouldn't mind hanging out with him more

Jungkook thought, chuckling softly at the idea. It was a strange realization, considering how their relationship had started. But maybe, just maybe, there was more to Kim Taehyung than he initially thought.

He laughed at himself, feeling a bit ridiculous. "What the hell, Jeon? Since when do you enjoy hanging out with him?"

But despite his confusion, Jungkook felt something warm settle in his chest. He rolled over, closing his eyes, and for the first time in a while, he fell asleep with a genuine smile on his face.
