The tension in the principal’s office was suffocating. Taehyung, Jungkook, and Chris sat side by side, none of them daring to meet each other’s eyes.
The room was still, except for the soft tapping of the principal's pen against her desk as she surveyed the three boys, anger barely concealed behind her steely gaze.
“I don’t even want to know what happened back there,” the principal, Mrs. Park, began, her voice firm and commanding as she looked over the three students.
“Because no matter what, violence is not tolerated on campus premises. Under any circumstances.”
The room was heavy with silence. Chris shifted uncomfortably in his chair, his swollen face a reminder of the fight.
Taehyung’s jaw was clenched tight, while Jungkook stared straight ahead, his fists still balled up, knuckles bruised.
Mrs. Park, arms crossed and eyes blazing, zeroed in on Jungkook, her expression a mix of frustration and disbelief.
"Jeon, what on earth were you thinking this time? Do you even have any sense, or are you just some wild animal who can't control himself?" she snapped, her tone sharper than ever.
"Just look at Chris's face! Look at the mess you've made! You think this is acceptable?"
Jungkook's eyes flicked to Chris's swollen, bloodied face, his expression indifferent. He didn't bother to respond, arms crossed and jaw set as if her words were just background noise.
In his mind, Chris deserved every punch. If anything, he regretted not hitting him harder, but he bit his tongue, keeping his thoughts to himself. Let her rant-he didn't care. He knew he was right.
Mrs. Park didn’t stop there. She turned her attention to Chris, her voice dripping with exasperation.
“And you, Chris—don’t act like a saint. I know you’re no angel. You must’ve done something to provoke this. I wouldn’t be surprised at all.”
Chris opened his mouth to argue, but before he could get a word out, Mrs. Park cut him off sharply. “Shut up. Not another word.”
Chris’s mouth snapped shut, and he glared at Jungkook from the corner of his eye, still seething, but not daring to speak.
Mrs. Park’s eyes then fell on Taehyung, her expression turning from anger to disbelief.
“And you, Kim? What’s gotten into you? Since when do you get mixed up in fights like this?” Ms. Park’s eyes narrowed. “You’re not even in their class—why were you involved?”
Taehyung opened his mouth, ready to defend himself, but before he could get a word out, Jungkook interjected, his voice strong and unyielding.
“Taehyung didn’t do anything. He was just standing there, Mrs. Park.”
Mrs. Park’s eyes snapped to Jungkook, her irritation palpable. “Did I ask for your opinion, Jeon? Or are you suddenly his spokesperson?” she shot back, her voice sharp as a whip. “Mind your own business.”
Jungkook clenched his jaw, a muscle ticking as he forced himself to stay silent, though the tension in his posture was clear.
His eyes burned with defiance, and he shift a little closer to Taehyung, as if daring her to continue blaming him.
The principal sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of her nose as she looked between the boys. “This is ridiculous. I expected better from you, Kim,” she muttered, her disappointment evident
“And Jeon, given your reputation, I expect you to know better than to let things escalate like this.”
Pin drop silence.
