The evening light filtered into Taehyung’s room, casting a soft glow over his desk as he worked on his assignment.
Papers were scattered around him, and his focus was razor-sharp—he had to submit it in just one day.
(Taehyung's room)
Beside him, Jungkook was sprawled out comfortably on Taehyung's bed, casually scrolling through his phone as if it were his own home.
He had been silent for a while, but after a few moments of boredom, he tossed his phone aside, resting his head on his hand as he turned his attention to Taehyung.
Jungkook watched Taehyung intently, his brow furrowed as he concentrated. There was something so captivating about how serious Taehyung looked when he was working—how his lips pressed together, how he unconsciously chewed on the tip of his pen. But Jungkook wanted attention, not just to be an observer.
He let out a dramatic sigh, making a pouty face as he sulked. "Taehyung, come on, talk to me," he whined, his voice filled with fake desperation. But Taehyung, so focused on his work, barely glanced up.
"Jeon, please. I need to finish this," Taehyung replied absentmindedly, eyes never leaving the page.
Jungkook, unamused by the lack of attention, huffed and grabbed the notebook from Taehyung’s hands, pulling it towards him.
Taehyung's head snapped up, eyes wide with frustration. "Yah! Give that back, Jeon! I need to finish this!"
But Jungkook held it just out of reach, his lips curled in a playful smirk. "You’re no fun when you’re working. Just talk to me for a bit."
Taehyung groaned, running his hands through his hair in frustration. He began to ramble, clearly agitated.
"I really need to finish this, Jeon. If I don't, the teacher will give me a zero, and then I'll fail. Do you know what that means? I don’t have time for games, Jungkook, I really—"
Jungkook froze.
His playful expression faded as the sound of his name—his actual name, not "Jeon"—rolled off Taehyung’s lips for the first time.
It was subtle, like a whisper caught in the wind, but to Jungkook, it was the most beautiful sound he had ever heard. His heart skipped a beat.
"You just said my name," Jungkook muttered, still in disbelief, his voice quieter now.
Taehyung, still in his own world, stopped mid-rant. "What? What are you talking about?"
Jungkook’s eyes were fixed on him, an almost dreamlike expression on his face. "You just said my name, Taehyung," he repeated, this time with more weight to his words, as if he couldn’t believe it himself.
Taehyung sighed in exasperation, his frustration mounting. "I said so many things, and that’s what you notice?" His voice was laced with irritation. He reached for his notebook, still trying to pull it back.
