It was lunchtime, and the usual group had gathered at their regular table in the cafeteria.

Namjoon, Hoseok, Yoongi, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook were all there, the atmosphere light and filled with laughter. As always, Jungkook sat next to Taehyung — it had become an unspoken rule by now.

Namjoon was in the middle of an animated story, his dimples flashing as he talked about the embarrassing moment he had at Jin’s café earlier that week. "I swear," Namjoon groaned, "I only spilled that drink because Jin hyung kept staring at me like he knew something was going to happen!"

Everyone laughed at that, and Hoseok, ever the bright energy of the group, leaned over with a wide grin. "At least you didn’t trip over your own feet like I did during my first dance class."

"Wait, you’re going on a date with that girl from your dance class tonight, right?" Jimin chimed in, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

Hoseok nodded, his smile not dimming in the slightest. "Yep! Tonight’s the night. Wish me luck!"

The conversation flowed around the table, filled with jokes and playful banter, but Jungkook wasn’t really paying attention to any of it. His focus was entirely on Taehyung.

Today, Taehyung looked… especially beautiful, then again when he doesn't? There was a certain softness to his features, the way his light brown hair fell over his eyes, the way his lips curved into a slight smile as he listened to Namjoon’s story. His beauty was effortless, and it was driving Jungkook crazy.

Jungkook’s eyes kept wandering over to Taehyung, stealing glances when he thought no one was looking. Every time Taehyung would catch his gaze, though, he’d quickly look away, his ears turning a shade pinker.

Taehyung tried to focus on the conversation, but Jungkook’s attention was distracting him, making his heart race.

"Cute," Jungkook murmured under his breath, scrunching his nose slightly at how adorable Taehyung looked when he got flustered. He had barely noticed he’d said it out loud, his eyes still fixated on the boy beside him.

Across the table, Yoongi noticed everything. He watched the way Jungkook’s gaze softened every time it landed on Taehyung.

He observed how Taehyung seemed hyper-aware of Jungkook’s every move, how they both pretended to be absorbed in the group conversation but were clearly in their own little world. Yoongi didn’t say anything, but the small smile tugging at the corner of his lips showed that he understood more than anyone.

It’s evening, and Jungkook is at Lisa’s place, the room dimly lit with the scent of lingering perfume in the air.

They’ve just finished a fuck, both lying still as they catch their breath. Lisa stretches out beside him, looking relaxed, but Jungkook, on the other hand, seems distant, staring at the ceiling. Despite everything, a strange emptiness clings to him—a hollowness he can’t seem to shake.

Lisa turns to him, propping herself on one elbow. "So… how’s it going with Taehyung?" she asks, her voice casual but curious, cutting through the silence.

Jungkook's heart skips at the mention of Taehyung. His jaw tightens for a split second, but he quickly composes himself, flashing a smirk that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.

"The dare?" He shrugs, avoiding her gaze. "I’m gonna win."

But even as the words leave his mouth, they taste wrong—bitter, even. He doesn’t feel the usual satisfaction he gets from winning or being in control.

The thought of Taehyung crosses his mind again, his shy smile, the way he blushes whenever Jungkook teases him. Jungkook’s heart stirs with something unfamiliar, something that goes beyond the dare.
