The next day, Taehyung sat in class beside Jimin, who was fidgeting with his pen.
“I’m still processing everything about your sister and Jungkook,” Jimin said quietly, his voice filled with concern.
Yoongi had told him everything that happened at Taehyung’s place yesterday, and he was trying to wrap his head around it all.
Taehyung’s shoulders stiffened, and he quickly looked away, his expression guarded. “It’s okay, Jimin. Can we... please not talk about this?” he muttered, the discomfort clear in his voice.
Jimin immediately realized he had touched a sensitive spot, and seeing the pain flicker in Taehyung’s eyes, he decided to shift the topic.
“Alright, I’m sorry.” He offered a small, understanding smile before saying, “I just really miss you during lunch breaks, Tae. It’s just not the same without you.”
Taehyung let out a soft sigh, leaning back in his chair as he tried to push his emotions aside. “Jimin, you know I can’t eat with you guys,” he replied, his tone resigned but firm.
Jimin frowned, still determined. “Okay, fine. I’ll eat with you from now on, then.”
Taehyung’s eyes widened, and he quickly shook his head. “No, you won’t,” he insisted.
“Just because of my... situation with Jungkook, I don’t want you to separate from your boyfriend. Yoongi needs you there.”
Jimin sighed, looking conflicted. “But—”
“No buts, Jimin. It’s final,” Taehyung said, cutting him off before softening a little. “Besides... Chris asked me to meet him in the cafeteria.”
Jimin’s eyebrows shot up, curiosity evident in his eyes. “Why are you meeting him?”
Taehyung shrugged, his face unreadable. “He just texted me to meet in the cafeteria, so...”
Taehyung kept quiet about the fact that he had a date planned with Chris the next day, not wanting to give Jimin any reason to dig deeper.
Besides, he knew Jimin would definitely tell Yoongi, and, well… Yoongi would tell him. And Taehyung wasn’t ready for that conversation.
Jimin hesitated, his voice dropping. “Taehyung... you should be careful with him. You know he’s not a good person.”
A bitter smile tugged at Taehyung’s lips as he glanced down at his hands. “Well, I’ve already been played by Jeon Jungkook,” he said, his voice tinged with sarcasm. “Chris couldn’t be worse than him, right?”
Jimin opened his mouth to respond but stopped, seeing the pain in Taehyung’s eyes.
They had finally started to mend their friendship again, and he didn’t want to risk pushing Taehyung away by defending Jungkook.
With a sigh, he said softly, “Okay, fine. Just... take care, okay?”
Taehyung offered a small nod, grateful for Jimin’s concern. As the bell rang, signaling the end of class, the two exchanged a brief smile before packing up their things.

Taehyung sat with Chris in the corner of the cafeteria, away from the crowd and, most importantly, out of view.
It was break time, and he had no intention of seeing him—Jungkook—at all.
Chris leaned back in his chair, a grin spreading across his face. “I’m really glad you agreed to my offer, Taehyung. I was half-expecting you to say no.”
