As they left the restaurant, neither of them headed towards the car right away.
There was an unspoken understanding between Jungkook and Taehyung that the night shouldn't end just yet.
They both seemed to hesitate before Jungkook said, "Let's walk a little, yeah? It's nice out."
Taehyung nodded with a soft smile. "Yeah, a walk sounds nice."
They strolled side by side down the quiet street, the night air cool against their skin. The stars shimmered faintly above them, and the gentle rustling of leaves filled the silence between their words.
As they walked, their hands brushed together briefly. A spark, a sudden tingle shot through both of them at the brief contact.
Jungkook hesitated for a moment, glancing down at his hand and then at Taehyung. His heart raced, trying to find the courage to make the next move.
Tentatively, Jungkook hooked a finger around Taehyung's pinky. When Taehyung didn't pull away or protest, Jungkook took the leap and slowly intertwined their fingers, holding Taehyung's hand fully in his own.
Their fingers slid together effortlessly, fitting like they had always belonged this way.
Taehyung's heart pounded against his chest as they continued walking hand in hand. It was the most romantic thing he had ever experienced.
His chest swelled with happiness, and for the first time, he felt what it meant to truly be in love.
He glanced over at Jungkook, who was silently walking beside him, looking straight ahead but with a serene smile on his face.
They soon found themselves standing by a bridge, the soft glow of streetlights casting a gentle hue over their features.
They stopped, leaning against the railing, their hands still interlocked. They stood close enough that their shoulders touched, feeling the warmth between them.
The silence stretched for a few moments before Taehyung broke it softly, his voice almost timid.
"Jungkook... have you ever been in love?"
Jungkook's chest tightened as he heard Taehyung say his name. There was something so intimate about the way Taehyung said it, like it resonated deep inside him.
He had to fight back the butterflies that fluttered in his stomach. He took a moment before answering, his voice lower than usual, "Yeah... I have been in love."
He didn't say anything more, not wanting to let his thoughts drift back to the past when everything was perfect, and love wasn't complicated.
Taehyung felt a small pang of jealousy hearing that Jungkook had been in love before.
His grip on Jungkook's hand tightened for a moment, but he quickly shook off the feeling.
It's all in the past, he told himself.
Jungkook is here with me now.
He didn't dwell on the jealousy, focusing instead on the present moment.
Jungkook shifted beside him and said, "I won't ask you the same question because... I remember you saying during that truth and dare game that you don't believe in that kind of thing."
His voice was teasing, a faint smirk tugging at his lips as he glanced at Taehyung.
Taehyung wanted to correct him so badly. He wanted to tell Jungkook that things had changed, that now he did believe in love, that he had fallen-hard-for Jungkook.
