Receiving flowers is one thing I never expected to experience. Daniel never did and after our whole thing, I'm never dating again. I stare at the flowers in front of me, pink peonies. I loved them. There wasn't a card or anything, just the flowers.
Elodie: Who dropped them?
Kristen: I vowed to stay quiet
My jaw dropped
Elodie: Kristenn
I whined, crossing my arms
Elodie: Did you do it? Out of pity?
She laughed, cutting up some oranges
Kristen: If I bought you flowers it'd be grass
I scoff, stifling in a laugh
Elodie: That's not even a flower
Kristen: Whatever you say
Just then Gabe walked into the kitchen, along with Elijah.
Gabriel: Someone got you flowers?
I nod, glaring at the flowers. Maybe it was the guy from bible study.
Elijah: You don't seem happy about it. Not your favorite?
I turn to him, narrowing my eyes
Elodie: Do you know who brought them?
Elijah: I'd tell you if you looked a bit happier about them
Elodie: Did you get them?
I say taking a step towards him. His eyes darted to his mother, making the corner of my lips turn upwards.
Elodie: You did get them for me!
I exclaimed, a big grin playing on my lips. Elijah shrugged, a small smile gracing his lips.
Elijah: You've been through a lot, I figured you deserve it
Elodie: Aww, thank you so much
Before I could even process my actions, I hugged him. It was only a second, before I pulled away and turned back to the flowers.
Kristen: They're cute, aren't they Gabe?
Gabriel: As cute as cute can be, darling
I wave them off, still captivated by the flowers. It was a sweet act by Elijah. More reason that he and Penn should be a match. She'd be getting flowers every morning. I smiled at the thought, before turning to Elijah.
Elodie: Are we still painting today?
He nodded
Elijah: What time does school end?
Elodie: 3:30
Elijah: I'll pick you up?
I nod, taking a breakfast plate from Kristen and telling her a quick thank you.
Kristen: She has her therapy session today, Elijah
Fuck, I forgot about that. I roll my eyes, gulping down some orange juice
Elijah: I can drop her, it's fine
Kristen: Oh Okay
She said, a look of surprise on her face as she turned to look at her husband. I could've sworn he whispered "Whipped", but I could be 100% tripping.
Elodie: Do I have to go?
Kristen: Yes, young lady. Non negotiable
When I didn't respond, she sighed
