(Year 852)
"Today is an auspicious day. After all, the port is finished and we will accept foreign dignitaries for the first time. The one and only nation friendly to Paradis, Hizuru." Yelena announced to the soldiers gathered at the port.
He is overcome with giddy excitement at the prospect of these new allies specifically. He really wanted to meet more Asians or as they call them in this world, 'orientals.'
The clan would be a good place to draw out a lot of potential benefits, plus, he already has a plan to put Hizuru into a chokehold where they would be forced to allow them to garner their own benefits. It might be ambitious but he plans to somehow worm his way up to the Shogun.
He needed to give Eren time to get his shit ready for the marriage ceremony anyways.
Like Yelena said, after the full year of construction and development the port has been completed. Now able to house ships from other countries for diplomatic meetings and also trade. Now, the early sun shone upon them as they begun their escort mission.
"We would also meet their ambassador, Kiyomi Azumabito."
(Half a day later)
Today his goal was to butter up to the Azumabitos and show their hospitality before they even arrived. They called a steamship all the way from Sina to bring the clan members directly to the royal capital of Mitras.
A lot of it was actually his planning. They need to seem to be able to at least support themselves and act like they only need Hizuru's assistance, and that they 'don't need to rely on them completely'.
The first part of the trip was by carriage until they reached a little port near Shiganshina where the ship was waiting. If they had just completed the train system it would have been much more presentable.
They then proceeded to bring the Azumabitos onto the vessel and set sail all the way to Mitras. The water gates proved to be vital as they were never destroyed during the battle or fall of Shiganshina and Trost. A fancy little gadget left over by the first king of the walls.
It easily allowed them to pass through the different districts and with proper coordination the sail was completely smooth. All sorts of people came to greet the foreigners. He would have to thank his following and the military police later for filling up the number and keeping things positive.
His befriending of Nicolo proved to be very important too as the both collaborated in making Hizuru dishes on the boat. Filling in each other's gaps of knowledge to create a quite frankly delicious meal. Prepping with raw fish and other rarer ingredients had been quite difficult but in the end they managed and finished it up to standard. Saving a bit for each other to eat and also for Sasha. Who he managed to convince Nicolo to feed. Fueling the relationship further. Afterwards he gladly served the rest to the clan.
During the long trip he also discussed matters with Mikasa to which they agreed on a more proper sounding backstory. It wasn't technically a lie either.
He could just say that he isn't a direct family member, but is a member of the oriental clan as well, and is an ally of Mikasa's family. She did not know the importance of her bloodline yet even if he did, so she only agreed because he made himself sound intelligent, subtly manipulating events with his future vision. The fact that he knows future events wasn't something he wanted to overly rely on, but it's still a tool to be used.
By the time they arrived in Mitras it was already nearly sunset but meetings continued nonetheless. With them escorting the Azumabitos into the meeting room. Before they started though, he met Historia once again, it would be rude not to greet her.
