A Room Without Light

In the aftermath, I find myself enclosed,
In a room without light, where hope is opposed.
The walls press in, heavy with dread,
Echoing whispers of all that was said.

Shadows loom larger, they flicker and crawl,
Each corner a memory, each creak a new fall.
I stumble through darkness, where silence feels loud,
Wrapped in the whispers of an invisible shroud.

Isolation surrounds me, a thick, choking mist,
Where laughter once lived, now despair coexists.
I reach for the window, but the glass is all frosted,
Barriers built high, dreams silently costed.

Numbness envelops me, a cold, distant shell,
Each heartbeat a reminder of a story to tell.
The world beyond echoes, a distant, blurred scene,
While I'm trapped in this space, in the in-between.

Fear is my companion, a constant, cruel guest,
With thoughts that invade like uninvited pests.
Every sound is a threat, every shadow a foe,
In this room without light, where the darkness won't go.

But slowly, oh slowly, a flicker appears,
A glimmer of courage amidst all the fears.
A crack in the darkness, a whisper of grace,
A promise that healing can find its own pace.

I gather my fragments, the pieces once lost,
Determined to rise, no matter the cost.
With trembling hands, I begin to unlock,
The door to my heart, where the sunlight can knock.

Each step feels unsteady, but the light starts to grow,
Illuminating paths I once thought I'd forgo.
No longer confined to this room without light,
I embrace the new dawn, igniting my fight.

Though shadows may linger, and fears still reside,
I will not be defined by the pain that I hide.
For within every heart, a flame can ignite,
To transform the dark room into something more bright.

In time, I will dance in the warmth of the sun,
No longer a victim, but a warrior, I run.
For the room without light is not all that I am,
I will rise from the ashes, reclaim my own flame.
