The Weight of Silence
In hushed corners where shadows dwell,
A weight hangs heavy, too deep to tell,
Behind polite smiles and practiced grace,
Lies a battle waged in a silent space.Whispers echo where laughter should flow,
Yet no one sees the pain that I know,
Each meal a war, each bite a fight,
In the stillness of night, I wrestle with fright.Friends gather round, their voices bright,
But they cannot glimpse my internal plight,
For how can I share what feels like a sin?
When the scales tip low, it's where I begin."Just eat," they say, as if it were clear,
The struggle within is a silence I fear,
The stigma wraps tight like a cold, heavy shroud,
And I wear my shame like a well-crafted cloud. Each plate is a puzzle, a maze to unfold,
A script that I follow, a story retold,
The hunger that rumbles is drowned in despair,
And the weight of the silence becomes too much to bear.In crowded rooms, I smile and I nod,
While inside I'm grappling with the harsh facade,
The weight of each glance feels like judgment from friends,
As I navigate worlds where compassion just ends.Behind the closed doors, my reflection stands stark,
A hollowed-out shell, a flickering spark,
Each day brings the echoes of battles once fought,
Yet here in the silence, I'm still feeling caught. But oh, how I long to lift the veil,
To share my truth, to break the tale,
To say that the struggle is more than it seems,
And that hope can emerge from the depths of our dreams. So here's to the voices, the ones left unheard,
To the stories entwined with the silence of words,
May we gather the courage to speak out the fight,
And shatter the weight of the silence with light. For in sharing our burdens, the shadows may part,
And together, we'll mend the fractures of heart,
In a world where our truths can finally be seen,
We'll find our way back to the selves that we've been.
