End of Watch
As the sun dips low and the shadows grow long,
The shift comes to close, a bittersweet song.
With weary eyes heavy and boots caked in grime,
First responders gather, their spirits entwined. The radio crackles, the sirens grow still,
In the quiet of twilight, they breathe, they fulfill.
Each moment a memory, a life they embraced,
In the heart of the chaos, their courage interlaced. They've fought through the storms, faced the worst of the night,
With hearts full of fire, they've danced with the fright.
For every soul saved, there's a story behind,
Of laughter and tears, of the ties that bind.Yet in the stillness, as the day fades away,
There's a weight in their chests, a price they must pay.
For not every battle ends with a cheer,
Some stories remain, steeped in heartache and fear.As they share their reflections, the silence runs deep,
For the lives they've touched are a promise to keep.
The echoes of sirens still ring in their ears,
Each call a reminder of joy, pain, and tears. But amid all the exhaustion, the toll it can take,
There's pride in the mission, the difference they make.
In the glow of the dusk, as the world settles down,
They find solace in knowing they wear honor's crown. So here's to the end of another long watch,
To the bonds forged in struggle, the lessons we notch.
For though they may tire, and the road may grow rough,
The heart of a hero knows love is enough. With the stars now emerging to light up the night,
They'll carry their memories, their hearts ever bright.
For each shift may conclude, but the mission holds true,
In the end of the watch, they'll be back, they'll renew.
