Rest & Recovery

The gang tries to get Funny to rest while his arm is sprained.

Goofy woke up a bit earlier than everyone else. They all had a sleepover with Funny last night to keep an eye on him while his arm was recovering. While he was rubbing his eyes, he looked over to Funny's sleeping bag and saw that he wasn't there.

"Funny?" He asked quietly.

He heard some shuffling in the kitchen, and he went to check it out. What he didn't expect was to see Funny making breakfast. He wasn't even supposed to be awake right now.

"Funny?" Goofy said.

Funny jumped a bit before relaxing.

"Oh, Goofy. It's just you. What are you doing up?" He asked.

"What are you doing up? You should be resting." He said.

"I just thought that I could make some breakfast for all of you." He said, stirring the pancake batter.

"Funny, you shouldn't be doing any of this until your arm is better."

"It's only pancakes. And besides, my powers can help me out." He said as he let go of the spoon. The spoon continued to stir by itself.

"At least let me help you." He said.

"I really don't need any help, but if it makes you feel better." Funny said.

They finished up breakfast and made their way back to the living room. Soon, the rest of the gang woke up.

"Morning, everyone." Mickey said.

"Good morning." The rest said.

Daisy looked around, and her face was full of confusion.

"Wait, where's Funny?" She asked.

"They're right over -  huh! Where is he?" Goofy said. Just then, Funny came out of the kitchen, five plates of pancakes floating around in the air.

"Who's hungry?" He asked.

"Funny, you shouldn't be doing all of this. Care-a-belle said you need to rest your arm." Minnie said.

"She said I couldn't use my arm. She didn't say I couldn't use my powers."

"She also said that you needed to tone it down with your powers." Mickey said.

"It's not a problem. And besides, I only need to be in this sling for a couple of weeks. I'll be fine." He said, placing the plates down. He went back to the kitchen to get the drinks.

The rest of the gang looked at each other with concern. Funny always puts others' needs before his, yet he always forgets to take care of himself. Daisy followed him to the kitchen. He went into the fridge and grabbed some fruits. As soon as he saw her, he jumped a bit.

"Funny, what are you doing?"

"Grabbing some fruits?"

"You need to be resting your arm. Why are you out of your sleeping bag?"

"Because I don't wanna stay in my sleeping bag. And I was gonna make us a fruit salad." He said.

"Funny, you can't be overworks yourself like this. You were told to rest and were gonna make sure you do that. Started with getting you to sit down, at least." She said, and she began to push him towards the living room.

"But what about the fruit salad." He asked.

"We can do that later. And besides, we need to change your bandages." She said.

They went to the living room and sat him down on the couch. Minnie gently took his sling off, and she started to move it. She stopped as Funny winced a bit.

"Sorry, Funny."

"It's OK, Minnie."

She rested his arm on a pillow and took off the bandaging. It looked red and swollen. It even had a bit of bruising on it. She told Donald to get an icepack while she gently wiped it. He came back and placed the ice pack on his arm, making the funhouse sigh with delight. Goofy brought over the bandages Care-a-belle gave them, and Mickey went ahead and wrapped up his arm. Not too tight, and not too loose. After that was done, they put it back in the sling for him.

"How does that feel, Funny?" Donald asked.

"That feels so good. Thanks." He smiled.

"You're welcome, Funny." Minnie said.

"Now, we should go on a walk. I feel like walking." He said as he headed to the door. Mickey and Goofy stood in his way.

"Now, Funny. Care-a-belle said you needed to rest your arm and try not to go on adventures until your arm is better." Mickey said.

"But -"

"The more you rest is, the more you get better." Goofy said.

"OK." He said, sounding disappointed. "How about we read a couple of books instead." He said, heading over to the book corner.

He began to look at all the books and found the perfect one. At the very top of the shelf. He began to use his powers, but his friends were already on it.

"Let us get it, Funny." Goofy said.

"No, I can manage. Just gotta reach it." He said as he stopped glowing.

He was very close until the shelf started to shake. Everyone trying to get that book made it uneven, and books began to fall. They all stood back, but Funny accidentally tripped over a book and fell, more books covering his body. The gang came out of the pile of books and looked around.

"Is everyone OK?" Mickey asked.

"I am." Daisy called out.

"Me too." Donald said.

"Same here." Goofy put his thumb up.

"I'm ok, Mickey. But where's Funny?" Minnie asked.

"OWWWW!!" Funny cried as a pile of books fell on his injured arm.

"Oh, Funny!" Mickey called out as they helped him up.

"How's your arm feeling, Funny?" Mickey asked as an icepack was placed on it.

"It feels a lot better now." Funny said.

"That's good." Minnie said.

"I'm sorry I wasn't resting gang. I don't wanna be sitting down all the time. I know I'm not supposed to use my arm or do a lot of things. I just don't wanna feel like I need your help for every little thing." He said.

"And we're sorry we kinda acted as if you couldn't do anything. It's just that you always take care of us, and we want to do the same to you." Goofy said.

"Maybe you don't have to sit down to rest. Maybe you could do something else." Donald suggested.

"Like what?" Funny asked.

"I have an idea." Daisy smirked.

Soon, they were all inside a giant pillow fort and playing a board game. It was more like a pillow castle than anything. Even Windy came to play. Funny learned that even though he likes to move around a lot, he needs a downtime to relax and get better. He knows that it's gonna take a while for his arm to fully heal. But he has his friends and his family to help him out. And he's taking that to heart.
