Y/N stood in the driveway, watching River run towards the car as Dua pulled up to pick him up for the weekend. It had become a smooth routine over the last couple of years. The co-parenting arrangement between her, Dua, and Elizabeth had blossomed into something far more beautiful than Y/N could have ever imagined. There was mutual respect, understanding, and a genuine care for River that made everything work.

As River climbed into the backseat, chatting excitedly with his mom about his day, Y/N approached Dua with a warm smile.

"Hey, can we talk for a sec?" Y/N asked, her tone casual but carrying a hint of something more serious.

Dua glanced at River, who was happily buckling his seatbelt, then turned back to Y/N, raising an eyebrow. "Sure, what's up?"

Y/N took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the news she was about to share. "So... I got an offer from Orlando Pride."

Dua’s eyes lit up with excitement. "No way! That’s incredible!" She reached out, pulling Y/N into a quick hug. "I’m so happy for you!"

Y/N chuckled, the excitement finally sinking in. "Yeah, it’s big. It’ll probably be my last club, though. I’ve only got a few years of playing left in me, and I want to make the most of it."

Dua nodded thoughtfully, her smile widening. "Well, it’s perfect timing then. I’ve actually been thinking about moving to Florida too. River’s going to love it."

Y/N’s eyes widened in surprise. "Wait, seriously? Florida? That’s amazing. I wasn’t sure how we were going to make the long-distance co-parenting thing work, but this… this is perfect."

Dua smiled softly. "Yeah, it all works out, doesn’t it? We’ve always been able to figure things out for River, and now it’s like everything’s falling into place."

Y/N nodded, feeling a wave of gratitude wash over her. "Yeah, it really is. And honestly, Dua, I just wanted to say… thank you. You’ve been the best ex-wife I could ask for." She grinned, adding with a laugh, "I mean, not that the bar is particularly high, but still."

Dua laughed too, shaking her head. "I know, right? Who knew we’d end up like this? But really, Y/N, we’ve done a pretty good job. River’s happy, and that’s what matters most."

Y/N nodded in agreement. They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, just appreciating how far they had come. Then, Dua’s expression shifted to one of playful curiosity. She narrowed her eyes at Y/N.

"You’re going to propose to Lizzie, aren’t you?" Dua said, her voice teasing.

Y/N froze, her eyes widening in shock. "W-What? No, no, I’m not…" She stammered, but the look on Dua’s face said it all.

"Come on, Y/N," Dua said, grinning. "I know you better than anyone. We were married before we became best friends. You can’t fool me."

Y/N sighed, defeated, but couldn’t help but laugh. "Alright, fine. I’ve been thinking about it. But, I mean, how am I supposed to talk to my ex-wife about proposing to my girlfriend? Isn’t that, like, super awkward?"

Dua smirked, leaning back in her seat. "Maybe, but who better to talk to than me? I know you, Y/N. And I know Lizzie. If anyone’s going to make this work, it’s you two. Besides, I’m happy for you. I’ve moved on."

Y/N raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Moved on, huh? You mean… there’s someone?"

Dua’s face lit up, her cheeks flushing slightly. "Yeah, actually. I’ve kind of met someone. He’s… amazing. He’s kind, smart, and he treats me really well. River loves him, too."

Y/N couldn’t help but grin. "That’s great, Dua. I’m happy for you. You deserve that."

Dua smiled back, her eyes sparkling. "Thanks. And you deserve to be happy too, Y/N. Don’t worry about me. You and Lizzie are going to be great. If you need help with the proposal, I’m your girl."

Y/N laughed, shaking her head in disbelief. "Only I would end up getting proposal advice from my ex-wife."

Dua shrugged, still grinning. "What can I say? We’ve got a weirdly amazing relationship."

Y/N couldn’t argue with that. She leaned back, feeling a sense of peace wash over her. "You know, Dua, I never thought we’d get here — to this place where everything feels… right. But we did it. We really did."

Dua nodded, her expression softening. "Yeah, we did. And for River, I wouldn’t have it any other way."

They sat there for a moment longer, sharing a quiet understanding before River’s voice broke the silence from the backseat.

"Mom, are we going or what?"

Dua and Y/N both laughed. "Alright, alright, we’re going," Dua called back before turning to Y/N one last time. "You’ve got this, Y/N. Propose to Lizzie. Make it special. And don’t forget — I want to hear all about it after."

Y/N grinned, feeling more confident than ever. "Thanks, Dua. I owe you one."

Dua winked. "You owe me more than one, but I’ll take it."

As Dua drove off with River, Y/N stood in the driveway, a smile playing on her lips. She couldn’t believe how lucky she was — not just to have Lizzie in her life, but to have an ex-wife who was so supportive, who had become one of her closest friends. Life had its strange twists and turns, but in the end, it had all worked out exactly the way it was meant to.
