Y/N sat in the living room, surrounded by chaos. Her laptop was open with several tabs on the screen showing houses for sale in Orlando, papers and lists scattered everywhere. River, now five years old, was sitting next to her, holding a crayon-drawn picture of a house.
"Mama! Look, I drew this one! It has a big yard for Oscar and Lucky!" River beamed, showing off his drawing, trying his best to help in his own way.
Y/N sighed, smiling softly at him, though the weight of the move had her shoulders tense. Oscar, their husky, and Lucky, their golden retriever, were also in the room, Oscar lying beside her while Lucky rested near River.
"That's a great house, buddy," Y/N said, "but we need to find a real one soon." She continued to scroll through listings, frustration bubbling up inside her. "I just don't know how we're supposed to find something in time."
As she muttered to herself, Elizabeth walked through the door, carrying grocery bags, a tired smile on her face. As soon as River saw her, he ran up to help, with Oscar and Lucky close behind, tails wagging in excitement.
"Hey, little helper!" Elizabeth laughed as she struggled to set the bags down, ruffling River's hair and giving the dogs quick pats. "Okay, okay, groceries down! I got it!" She chuckled, her eyes shifting toward the living room, where Y/N sat in full panic mode.
River leaned up to whisper loudly, "Mama's gonna go crazy, Lizzie!" He grinned mischievously, clearly finding his mom's stress amusing.
Elizabeth laughed softly and walked over to Y/N, kneeling in front of her. Y/N was still rambling, lost in her frantic thoughts.
"Property taxes... school districts... backyards... nothing seems right," Y/N muttered, unaware of Elizabeth's presence.
Elizabeth leaned in, giving her a soft kiss, cutting off Y/N's rambling. "Hey, love, you okay?"
Y/N blinked, realizing Elizabeth was home. "Oh! When did you get back?"
Elizabeth smiled, gently taking Y/N's hands. "A few minutes ago. You were a little... distracted."
"I'm sorry, Lizzie. I'm just stressed. This move is a lot, and I can't seem to find the right house," Y/N admitted, her shoulders slumping. "I don't want to mess this up for us or for River."
Elizabeth cupped Y/N's face, her touch soft and grounding. "Babe, take a deep breath. You don't have to worry about the house. I already found one."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise. "Wait, what? You found a house?"
Elizabeth nodded, a playful grin on her lips. "Yeah, I've been looking for the last couple of weeks. I put in an offer yesterday. Everything's sorted."
Y/N's jaw dropped, her stress melting away as she processed Elizabeth's words. "You-you did that? Lizzie, you're amazing! I was losing my mind over here, and you had everything under control."
Elizabeth pulled her into a hug, laughing softly. "You've been doing so much already. I wanted to take care of this part for you. It's the perfect house, and it's all set."
Y/N let out a deep sigh, resting her head against Elizabeth's shoulder. "Thank you. Seriously, thank you so much. I don't know what I'd do without you."
Elizabeth kissed her forehead, her hands rubbing soothing circles on Y/N's back. "You don't have to worry about anything, babe. The house has a big yard for the dogs, great schools for River, and it's close to your new training facility. It's perfect."
Y/N smiled, feeling the relief settle over her. And in that moment, it felt like the right time to ask something she had been thinking about for weeks. But first, she needed to talk to River.
---
Later that day, Y/N found a quiet moment when it was just her and River, sitting on the couch with Oscar and Lucky at their feet. Y/N looked at her son, who was busy drawing another picture.
"Hey, buddy," Y/N said softly, putting down her phone. "Can I talk to you about something?"
River looked up, his eyes bright. "Yeah, Mama. What's up?"
Y/N took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "You know how we're moving to Orlando soon, right?"
River nodded, a little frown crossing his face. "Yeah, but what about Lizzie and Lucky? Are they gonna stay here?"
Y/N smiled at how much he cared about both Elizabeth and Lucky. "That's actually what I wanted to talk to you about. I was thinking... what if we asked Lizzie and Lucky to move in with us? In Orlando."
River's face lit up instantly. "Really? They can come with us?"
Y/N nodded, smiling. "Yeah, if you're okay with it. I wouldn't ask her unless you're happy about it, too."
River jumped up, hugging Y/N tightly. "Yes, Mama! I want Lizzie and Lucky to come with us! I don't wanna leave them in LA."
Y/N laughed, hugging him back. "Alright, then. We'll ask her together, okay?"
River nodded eagerly. "Okay!"
---
That evening, Y/N and River were ready. Elizabeth was sitting on the couch, unwinding after dinner, and Y/N exchanged a knowing look with River. It was time for their big surprise.
"Lizzie?" Y/N began, walking over to her with River right beside her.
Elizabeth looked up from the TV, smiling. "Yeah?"
Y/N knelt down in front of her, taking her hand. "River and I have something we want to ask you."
Elizabeth's eyebrows shot up in curiosity, her eyes flicking between Y/N and River. "What's going on?"
Y/N smiled, nodding to River, giving him the cue. River stepped forward, a big grin on his face.
"Lizzie," River began, "will you and Lucky move to Orlando with us? We don't wanna leave you here."
Elizabeth's eyes went wide with surprise, her hand flying to her mouth. "Oh my God, are you serious?"
Y/N nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. "We're serious. I can't imagine going through this move without you. You're such a huge part of our lives, Lizzie. We want you with us-me, River, Oscar, Lucky... all together."
Elizabeth's eyes filled with tears, and she quickly wiped them away, laughing through her emotions. "Oh my God, yes. Yes, I'll move in with you. I want to be with you and River."
River jumped up and down, cheering, while Oscar and Lucky barked happily, sensing the excitement in the air. Y/N pulled Elizabeth into a tight hug, her heart swelling with love and gratitude.
"Thank you," Y/N whispered into her ear. "I couldn't be happier."
Elizabeth held Y/N close, her voice trembling with emotion. "Neither could I."
---
Later that night, after River had gone to bed, Y/N and Elizabeth sat on the couch, snuggled under a blanket, watching a movie. The dogs were curled up at their feet, and the evening had a peaceful glow about it.
Y/N couldn't help but glance over at Elizabeth, a soft smile playing on her lips. "I still can't believe this is happening," Y/N said quietly, her fingers brushing Elizabeth's hand.
Elizabeth turned to her, resting her head against Y/N's shoulder. "Believe it, babe. We're really doing this."
Y/N sighed happily, pressing a kiss to the top of Elizabeth's head. "You're everything I could've asked for. I can't wait to start this new chapter with you and River."
Elizabeth smiled, her hand gently squeezing Y/N's. "I feel the same way. This is exactly where I want to be."
Y/N felt a surge of joy and gratitude fill her chest. The move was stressful, yes, but in that moment, with Elizabeth by her side, it all felt worth it. Everything was falling into place-just like it was meant to.
