Epilogue: 5 Years Later
It was a warm, sunny afternoon at the Orlando Pride Stadium. Y/N, now 35, stood on the field as the captain of Orlando Pride, sweat glistening on her face after the final game of the season. The crowd roared as her team celebrated their win, securing the championship title. It was a perfect ending to the season, but little did Y/N know, there was an even bigger surprise waiting for her.
Up in the stands, Elizabeth, now 41, stood with a huge poster that read: "Congrats, Captain! Sage is getting a sibling! Baby #3 coming soon!" River, now 7, stood beside her, jumping up and down with excitement, holding onto Sage, their 2-year-old daughter, who was giggling in her tiny Orlando Pride jersey.
Y/N squinted from the field, noticing the poster, and her heart skipped a beat. She stared at Elizabeth, who was beaming and waving from the stands. Suddenly, the weight of the words hit her, and Y/N's jaw dropped in shock. "No way…" she muttered to herself before sprinting toward the stands.
As Y/N approached, River yelled, "Mommy Lizze's pregnant again!" His voice was full of joy, and he was practically bouncing with excitement.
Y/N slowed down and shook her head in disbelief. “Seriously? Another one?!”
Elizabeth laughed as she came down to meet Y/N. “Surprise!” she said with a grin, her eyes twinkling.
Y/N immediately wrapped her arms around her wife, pulling her into a tight hug. "I can't believe it... another baby?" She looked at Elizabeth with pure love in her eyes. "This is the best news ever."
Elizabeth kissed her cheek. "I thought the timing was perfect. We’re already celebrating a win, so why not add a little more excitement?"
Y/N held her close, unable to stop smiling. "I don’t know what I did to deserve you."
From a few rows down, Dua and her partner Margot Robbie stood, watching the whole scene unfold with wide smiles. They had their hands full with their own two kids, twins who were just 3 years old, running around in tiny soccer kits. Dua, now 35, waved at Y/N. "Congrats, Captain! Looks like your family’s growing too!"
Margot, laughing, tried to catch one of the twins who was making a break for it. "It’s a baby boom in Orlando!"
Y/N laughed, still overwhelmed with joy. "Thanks, Dua!" She glanced at the twins and then back at her wife. "Looks like we’re going to need a bigger house soon."
River ran over to Lizze and Y/N, wrapping his arms around them. "I’m so happy, Mama! Another baby! Sage and I are gonna be the best big siblings ever!"
Y/N ruffled his hair. "I know you will, buddy. You’re already the best big brother."
River looked up at Lizze, his eyes wide with excitement. "Mommy Lizze, this is the best surprise ever! And you’re gonna be the best mommy to the new baby too!"
Lizze bent down and kissed River’s forehead. "I think we’ll all be the best team ever. You, me, Mama, and Sage."
River grinned up at her. "We’re like superheroes! I can’t wait to meet the new baby."
Sage, who had been watching the entire scene unfold with her big curious eyes, suddenly toddled over and tugged at Y/N's shorts. "Mama! Mama!" she squealed, holding her arms up for a hug.
Y/N bent down and scooped Sage into her arms, kissing her on the forehead. "Hey, my little warrior princess. Are you ready to meet your new baby sibling?"
Sage giggled, her chubby arms wrapping around Y/N's neck. "Baby!" she said, her toddler voice full of wonder.
Y/N chuckled, her heart swelling with love for her little family.
As the celebration continued, Y/N, Elizabeth, River, and Sage made their way off the field. They were soon joined by Dua, Margot, and their kids, the whole group walking together toward the post-game festivities. River chatted excitedly with the twins, while Sage held onto Y/N's hand tightly, occasionally babbling in excitement.
Once they reached the sidelines, Dua pulled Y/N aside for a moment. "Hey, I just wanted to say congratulations again. You’re absolutely killing it—on and off the field."
Y/N smiled warmly. "Thanks, Dua. That means a lot, especially coming from you."
Dua’s eyes sparkled with sincerity. "I’m really happy for you, Y/N. You and Elizabeth… it’s all so right. And I’m glad we’re still part of each other’s lives, you know?"
Y/N nodded, feeling the weight of their history, but also the peace that had come from where they were now. "Same here. I don’t think I’d have made it this far without your support."
Dua smiled. "You would’ve. But I’m glad I could be part of the journey."
They shared a brief, meaningful hug before Margot called Dua over to help with the twins.
As the evening wound down, Y/N found herself sitting with Elizabeth, River, and Sage on a quiet part of the field. The kids were playing with the dogs—Oscar and Lucky—while Y/N leaned her head on Elizabeth’s shoulder, her heart full.
Elizabeth looked down at her and whispered, "We did it, babe. Our dream house, our family… and now, another baby on the way."
Y/N turned to look at her, her eyes filled with love. "You’ve made all my dreams come true, Lizze. I can’t wait to meet our new little one."
Elizabeth smiled and kissed Y/N softly. "And I can’t wait to watch you be the amazing mom you always are."
River suddenly ran over with a big grin. "Mama, guess what?!"
Y/N laughed. "What, buddy?"
"I can help with the baby this time! I’m big now, and I can teach them cool stuff like soccer, and Marvel movies, and how to be awesome!" River puffed out his chest with pride.
Elizabeth and Y/N shared a glance and laughed.
"You’ll be the best big brother," Elizabeth said, giving him a playful nudge. "And who knows? Maybe you’ll get to teach Sage and the new baby everything about being cool."
River grinned wider. "I can’t wait!"
As the night wore on, surrounded by friends, family, and love, Y/N knew this was exactly where she was meant to be.
