Chapter 7: Pressures of Fame

Life for Y/N and Elizabeth was usually a balancing act, trying to navigate between their highly demanding careers and maintaining a sense of normalcy in their relationship. While they loved each other deeply, the pressures of being in the public eye were beginning to take a toll.

Elizabeth was in the middle of her press tour for the latest Marvel movie, while Y/N was preparing for another intense season with Orlando Pride and the USWNT. Despite the physical distance and demanding schedules, they made it a point to keep their relationship strong, whether through late-night video calls, surprise visits, or stolen moments of quiet togetherness.

Y/N’s Soccer Glory

Y/N had just finished another record-breaking match. Her name was trending across social media for her incredible goal-scoring ability. She had become a sensation in the soccer world, a figure of inspiration for young athletes, and she knew her career was only getting bigger. Reporters were asking for interviews left and right, and endorsements kept rolling in.

She had just scored the game-winning goal in the USWNT game against Brazil, and the energy from the fans was electric. As she stood on the field, drenched in sweat but smiling from ear to ear, she glanced up into the stands, hoping to spot Elizabeth, but she wasn’t there. Elizabeth was busy with her press tour in London, and Y/N knew this was how it would be sometimes.

Elizabeth’s Marvel Universe

Elizabeth was at the peak of her career, balancing interviews, red carpet events, and filming new projects. Her portrayal of Wanda Maximoff had cemented her place in the entertainment industry, and fans around the world couldn’t get enough of her. She was grateful, but it was exhausting. She missed Y/N every day, and though they tried their best to stay connected, there was no substitute for being in the same room with her wife.

At one interview, a reporter asked her, "You’re very private about your personal life. Is there a reason for that?"

Elizabeth smiled gracefully, the practiced answer ready. "I believe in keeping work and personal life separate. It just works better that way."

The reporter pressed further. "There have been rumors you’re seeing someone. Care to share more?"

Elizabeth felt her heart race for a moment but remained calm. "No comments on that. Let’s talk about the movie."

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to share her life with Y/N—it was that she wanted to protect it. Fame had its ugly side, and she didn’t want Y/N to be dragged into it.

The Constant Juggling

One evening, after a long day of training, Y/N sat on the couch in their Florida home, the TV on in the background. She missed Elizabeth. They hadn’t seen each other in weeks, and phone calls weren’t cutting it anymore. Y/N had been thinking about flying to London to surprise her, but her schedule was packed with games, events, and more.

Just as Y/N was getting lost in her thoughts, her phone buzzed. It was a video call from Elizabeth.

“Hey, you!” Elizabeth greeted, her face lighting up on the screen.

Y/N smiled, her mood instantly lifting. “Hey, babe. How’s London treating you?”

Elizabeth sighed dramatically. “It’s cold, it’s busy, and I miss you.”

“I miss you too,” Y/N said, her heart swelling. “You look gorgeous though. I saw the photos from the premiere. You killed it.”

Elizabeth grinned. “Thanks, but I’d rather be killing it with you.”

Y/N chuckled. “You mean beating me in Marvel trivia again? Not gonna happen.”

Elizabeth winked. “Challenge accepted.”

They talked for hours, laughing and sharing stories about their day. Despite the miles between them, it felt like they were right there with each other. But as the call ended, they both felt the weight of the distance.

The Jealousy Game

As much as they loved each other, Y/N couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy every now and then. Elizabeth was constantly surrounded by some of the most attractive people in Hollywood—Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, and more. Y/N knew it was ridiculous, but she couldn’t help it.

One day, during a light-hearted conversation, Y/N brought it up.

“You know, I can’t compete with Thor,” Y/N said, half-joking, but the insecurity lingered in her tone.

Elizabeth laughed, shaking her head. “You don’t need to. Thor’s got nothing on you.”

Y/N smirked. “But what about Black Widow?”

Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. “Do I need to remind you again that Scarlett Johansson is married?”

Y/N chuckled, relaxing into the couch. “Yeah, yeah. I know. But she’s still a total badass.”

Elizabeth grinned, leaning in to kiss Y/N on the cheek. “You’re my badass.”

Y/N blushed, feeling the warmth in Elizabeth’s words. No amount of jealousy could change the fact that their bond was unbreakable.

Back Together

After weeks apart, Elizabeth finally returned to Florida, and Y/N picked her up from the airport, practically running into her arms.

“God, I missed you,” Y/N said, holding her close.

Elizabeth smiled against Y/N’s shoulder. “Missed you more.”

That evening, they curled up on the couch with Lucky, their dog, between them. For the first time in what felt like forever, everything was calm. No press tours, no games—just the two of them, and it was perfect.

Y/N turned to Elizabeth. “You know, I’ve been thinking…”

Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “About what?”

“About making this more permanent. You, me, and Lucky… moving somewhere together, a place that’s truly ours.”

Elizabeth’s eyes softened. “I’d like that. Somewhere far from all the craziness?”

“Yeah,” Y/N nodded. “Maybe not too far from the stadium, though. I’ve got records to break.”

Elizabeth laughed. “Of course. You and your soccer. But I’m in.”

They smiled at each other, knowing that wherever they went next, as long as they were together, they’d be just fine.

As the months passed, Y/N continued to break records on the field, while Elizabeth dominated the big screen. Their careers were at their peak, but they always made time for each other. Whether it was a quiet night in Orlando or a spontaneous trip to New York, their love never wavered.

And though the world might never know the full extent of their relationship, they knew that what they had was real, and that was all that mattered.
