After lying on the floor for about five minutes, feeling my body mend itself, I began to feel decent. The back of my prison uniform was stained with fresh blood, leaving me feeling sticky and smelling strongly of copper.
	*Bang*
"AGHH!" I heard Osamu's scream from down the hallway. "Fuck, that really hurt! What do you think you're aiming at?! You really suck at this!"
Shit! He must've run into Chuuya!
I began to run as fast as my legs would carry me.
Gravity manipulation won't work on Osamu, but that was a gunshot I heard earlier. Damn it!
Once I finally spotted the brunette, I noticed that he was holding onto his bleeding shoulder while Chuuya held a gun to his head.
"Come on, Chuuya." The bandaged man tightly held his wound, as he closed his eyes and bowed his head. "It's time for you to wake up now. Our story is not going to come to an end in this damn place. We're destined to-"
*Bang*
My heart dropped at the same time the gun went off. No. This wasn't- He wasn't supposed to- Why couldn't I-
As I watched the man I cherished topple over, memories of joyful days spent with the brunette cascaded through my mind.
I didn't think that vampires had any connections to their human selves, but Chuuya seemed enthusiastic to be shooting someone who was already down. No, what am I saying? No one can actually kill him. That's what he always said! No... that's what everyone else said.
I got onto my knees, not caring that Osamu's blood was staining my pants. Placing my hands on his arm I tried to shake him.
"This isn't funny. Wake up." Tears fell down my cheeks, as I wrapped my arms around his body, burying my face in his neck. "I said I wouldn't leave you, but that doesn't mean you can leave me! You put me through hell and back, but I still couldn't bring myself to leave. All your flirty comments and talking to other girls killed me inside bit by bit. I always told myself to ignore it, because I knew you were just trying to get under my skin. But you did anyway, damn it. As much harm as you did, I hoped that deep down you really did care for me. You would've left me alone from the start, right? You wouldn't have tried to stop me from following you here, right? We're still married, right?" My tears rained even harder, once I heard no response. "I love you, you idiot."
Silence followed, as I tightly gripped onto the back of Osamu's shirt.
"Tch, you bastard," Chuuya growled from behind me. "You could've at least told her what you were planning beforehand."
I lifted my head up, as my head shot toward the voice. "W-wait, you're not a vampire?"
A hand cupped my face, before bandaged arms pulled me back down into a hug. "I'm sorry, love. I knew I couldn't convince Fyodor that I was dead if your reaction wasn't genuine, so I had to hide the truth from you."
Overwhelmed with emotion, I could only cry, burying my face in the brunette's shoulder and clutching the front of his shirt. One of his hands gently wove through my hair, while the other wrapped around my back, offering comfort.
"I'm going to go get the medical supplies I saw on the third floor," Chuuya awkwardly mentioned before walking away.
"So, you heard me the whole time, and all you had to say was sorry for not telling me about your plan," I frowned. "You're terrible."
"I know. I've always been." I felt a light pressure on the top of my head, leading me to assume the Osamu was leaning on me. "Do you want to know why I never asked you to get back together with me?"
I lifted my head up, meeting his dark brown eyes with my (e/c) ones. "It's because you knew how dependent I was on you, and wouldn't have left?"
He shook his head, as he laid his eyes on the ground. "No. If I had left you, then you would've had Bones and all of your other friends to keep you company."
"I wouldn't be so sure about that-"
"You don't need me; you deserve someone who could actually make you feel happy without having to question whether it was real or not. I didn't realize that until we started to work for the Detective Agency."
I placed my hands on his shoulders, hoping that he'd finally look at me. "What do you mean?"
"When I broke it off with you, I was fully intending to make you mine again, once I was able to save someone, just like Oda wanted me to. I guess I thought that I'd finally be worthy of loving you." His voice sounded as if he were in agony. Whether it was from his injuries or his heart, I couldn't tell. "Once I passed my entrance exam on my first mission with Kunikida, I knew exactly what I had to tell you. But when I saw you, I began to question whether I should go through with it or not. You were talking with Yosano about something, and your smile- I hadn't seen you that happy since..."
"Since when?"
"Since before we were in the Port Mafia, before we started dating, before we got married. Don't you understand, (Y/n)?! I bring misfortune to the lives of others, whether I like them or not! I knew that if I truly loved you, then I had to prioritize your happiness and leave you be! But I couldn't even do that!" He leaned his forehead on my shoulder, as he lowered his voice. "I needed to leave you for your own sake, but I still couldn't even do that. I'm sorry, (Y/n). Sorry for everything."
He really cares about me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, before pecking the top of his head. "A long time ago, you said that everyone who holds any meaning in your life leaves as soon as you get a hold of them, right? I'm still here, aren't I?" I let out a sigh. "As much as I wanted to, I could never bring myself to hate you."
"Well, you should."
I cupped his face, leading the brunette to look at me. "You managed to turn your life around with a second chance given to you by Oda. It's about time I gave you one. Come on, let's start over."
The pair of brown eyes slightly widened, before Osamu cracked a smile. Leaning his forehead against mine, he closed his eyes. "(Y/n), I love you."
"I love you too, Osamu."
He moved in even closer, closing the distance between our lips, as he held me close. It felt warm and loving, a feeling I had not felt in the past four years. This is really it. He's mine again.
After a minute or so, my husband pulled away, placing his hand on my cheek. "I'm going to get you out of this place. I promise you that, my love."
"I don't know," I giggled. "Seems to me like I'm gonna be the one to carry you out."
"In a body bag?"
"Don't you start."
