(Season 3, Episode 5)

It was an ordinary day as Osamu, Atsushi, Junichiro, Ranpo, Kenji, Yosano, and I walked to work, eager to savor the delicious beverages at our cafe.

"Here we are once again," the brunette announced. "It's the cafe's fault that we're here every day. It's so convenient and cozy."

As the door swung open, we were rooted to the spot. Darkness enveloped the store, revealing the chaos within. Who the hell would do such a thing?

"What happened here?" Atsushi muttered. It was then that we saw the cafe owner slumped against the wall. "Sir!"

As I hurried over to him, it was clear something was wrong. He was moaning in pain, holding his hand tightly.

"Are you alright?" Yosano asked, as soon as she kneeled down to him.

"Dazai, look." The weretiger faced the brunette. "His fingers."

"It's not that bad," the old man groaned. "I'll be fine. I'm just glad that you're all safe."

Each and every one of us had the same pissed off look on our faces. Whoever's responsible will experience hell!

It took us almost no time to find that bastard's hideout. Ranpo wasn't playing around today. Junichiro and Atsushi's abilities helped us tremendously with sneaking past the guards and taking them all out. Out of the entire labyrinth, there was one oddity: a door that would be used in a vault. Kenji made sure to take that down with one hit.

A fat blonde man stood up, surrounded by a few men with guns. "Impossible, there's no way you could've found our hideout!"

"It took Ranpo a whole five seconds to figure it out," Osamu mocked.

"But the security cameras- What about the armed guards?"

"We actually owe you some gratitude," the bandaged man smirked. "You made work interesting again."

"Oh yeah?" The criminal flipped his phone open. "I'll have the local gangs here in a second. They'll rip you to shreds!"

A giggle escaped me. They're not stupid enough to fuck with us. Kenji hoisted the hefty door, poised to throw it. Meanwhile, Yosano advanced towards the man, her chainsaw humming steadily.

"I understand you enjoy ripping people's nails off. What exquisite taste you have. I'm going to enjoy this a lot more than you are."

It was quite entertaining to watch him scream and beg for mercy when our doctor sliced him up.

-Back in the Cafe-

Osamu propped his chin on the table, while Junichiro, Ranpo, Yosano, and I savored our drinks in the booth. "Ah, now I'm relaxed."

Atsushi and Kenji were seated at the bar, anticipating the arrival of their companions.

"So, were they looking for something that the Guild had?" I questioned.

The brunette sat up straight. "Nothing like that exists and even if it did, someone else would've definitely taken it already. The Guild must've put out false leads and those guys fell for it hook, line, and sinker."

The bell chimed as the door swung open, and a girl with pink hair stepped inside. Isn't she with the Guild?

Atsushi's head perked up as the cafe owner introduced her. "Everyone, I'd like to introduce you to our newest staff member, Lucy."

An uncomfortable silence enveloped the room while they exchanged glances.

"Is there a reason you're here?" Atsushi asked.

Well, that was straight to the point.

She yelled, throwing the metal box she held at his head. "Cause I wanna be!"

"Agh!"

Before long, everyone except Osamu and me had left the table. We sat in silence, facing each other.

The brunette smiled, pouring another pack of sugar into his coffee. "Looks like it's just us now."

"Yup." I avoided making eye contact while stirring my (f/d).

"It's kinda like a date, you know." After a few seconds, he sighed, lowering his head. "Come on, it's not fun if you don't say anything."

"What do you want me to say?" I asked, earning another bored groan from him.

"I don't know, we haven't been together like this in a while." He paused to think for a moment. "How was your day?"

"Fun, I got to watch an entitled bitch get beat up." I answered, taking another sip of my drink.

Silence filled the table for another handful of seconds, before Osamu let out a fake cough, whispering across the table. "Now's when you ask me how my day was."

"What's the point? I already know that you're gonna say the same thing, because we were together all day."

"Come on, just ask me," he pouted.

"Fine, how was your day?"

"Perfect, now that I'm sitting across from the most gorgeous girl in the world." Partially taken aback, I looked behind me to see no one. "I'm talking about you, (Y/n)."

Annoyed with his antics, I got up and began to head for the Agency. "Nice try, but I'm not paying your tab."

He grasped my wrist and pulled me close to him in the booth. "Please, don't run away this time. I meant what I said, and it has nothing to do with the tab." Osamu's other hand found its way to my cheek. "(Y/n), you know I-"

"Dazai! So, this is where you've been!" Kunikida fumed, bursting through the door. "Oh, and now you're flirting with your coworkers, how despicable!"

The warmth of the brunette's hand left my face. What was he going to tell me?

"Kunikida, you have terrible timing," he huffed.

"Well excuse me." Angrily, the blonde placed his hands on his hips. "You have paperwork you still need to do!"

Osamu leaned his head back on the booth. "Fine, I'll get to it in a minute."

As soon as Kunikida left, I shifted my gaze back to the brunette. "So, what were you saying?"

He let out a heavy sigh. "You know, it wasn't important."

The hand that he rested on mine gave it a tight squeeze before letting go. It was then that he got up and went to the office. What is going through your head, Osamu Dazai?
