"Now, now, now, now!" The clown, who's name I learned to be Nikolai, grinned. "Time for the delayed explanation! Until now, the three of you were imprisoned on the lowest level in an anti-ability space used to contain dangerous gifted. Now, we're a level above it on the fourth floor of the general detention area. Still, the most elite security roams the halls."

As the clown continued to explain our situation, I learned a few new things. Each hall is divided into dozens of cells, which each need a separate code to unlock. Oh, and the codes are changed every six hours. How fun... One wrong code will prevent the door from ever opening again. The doors are also 120 centimeters thick and were created specifically to counter abilities.

And if that was bad enough, the elevators were ten times worse. A handprint, retina scan, voice authorization, and a DNA identification is required to use it.

"I hope you had plenty to eat, cause there's still more!" Damn, I knew this prison was inescapable, but shit. This is crazy. "Heavily armed guards regularly patrol these floors. All of which are trained to shoot on sight. Oh man! I love my plan, but you aren't getting out. Not even if you three had the combined lives of a dozen pussycats." The white-haired man suddenly jumped, as if he had just remembered something. "Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about the worst part of the prison break attempt. As soon as an intruder's detected, the vault doors close, and ten seconds later, they're filled with water. And just for good measure, it's not regular water, but heavy water, made with a different isotope of hydrogen. It's denser than normal water, making it much harder to swim in. It's also toxic, so it'll kill you if you drink enough of it."

"Damn, they really went the extra mile there," I sweat dropped.

Of course, if you don't get killed while you're trying to escape, you'll still die from the poison," Nikolai continued. "(Y/n) and Fyodor that is. Do you wanna cry yet?"

The Russian man chuckled with glee as Osamu maintained his stern glare directed at me.

"Now, I've got some good news!" Nikolai shot his arms up in the air. "In honor of your march towards certain doom, I've decided to do something special and get something for each of you!" He spun around, before pointing to the man in the suit, who's name happened to be Sigma. "Alright assistant, bring me the thing!"

"I'm not your assistant!" Despite his remark, Sigma still followed Nikolai's orders, pushing a cart over to us.

"I'm going to allow each team to each choose one item to bring with you," the clown explained. "They're each powerful tools that may help you find your way to victory. First up is a radio used by the armed guards. You'll need one of these to know where the guards are. Our second item is a top-level clearance door card. The door to the ocean port can only be opened with one of these. Third, coin bombs. Now, with extra explosives. And fourth, a satellite phone. There's radio reception on the first floor. If you make it there, you can request help from any of your allies, worldwide. In some ways, it's the most powerful of all."

The key card seems like the most logical choice.

"I see." Osamu held a hand to his chin, as he scanned over the items. "So, before the starting gun..."

"...It seems that the race to escape has already begun," Fyodor finished.

"Feel free to choose first."

I looked up at the brunette in confusion, but he just kept his eyes closed. What's he up to?

"Thanks, that is rather decent of you." Fyodor walked forward, pointing to the key card. "I'll take this one, please."
