(Season 5, Episode 10)
This is really bad. I don't think we're gonna make it out of-
Suddenly, Osamu seized the back of both my head and Sigma's. "Get down!" He pushed us both under the water, not giving either of us time to respond.
It was a good thing. Right after we submerged ourselves, various explosions roared along what was left of the surface. Damn it! Those flames are burning up any oxygen that's left in this death trap! If we go up to breath now, we're only gonna be inhaling smoke.
I watched as Osamu tapped on his chest while looking at Sigma, who in return pulled something out of his jacket. A gun. Three rounds imprinted themselves into the door, but it was no use. The elevator door was made of the same material as the doors in the hallways.
The blazing inferno that was illuminating the still water died out, leaving us in the dark, aside for a small emergency light.
The white and purple haired man rejoiced, realizing that the fire was out, and he could breathe without getting burnt. How wrong he was. I grabbed onto his leg, shaking my head. I couldn't exactly speak now, but the only thing up there to breathe in is carbon dioxide. One breath would rob our blood of oxygen in an instant. Even if I stuck my hand out to use my ability in some way, it'd splatter without oxygen being present.
I watched confusedly, as Osamu took Sigma's gun, before pushing off of him to get to the surface. He's gonna destroy the door controls!
Quickly, I swam over to the area underneath the circuitry, allowing the brunette to stand on my shoulders, so he could reach it.
It was muffled, but I heard the gunshots, along with the sound of rushing water. My eyes shot over to the stream of bubbles, which flowed out the door. Sigma noticed too, trying to pry the door open with his hands, while Osamu kept shooting.
He succeeded in opening it, as the water pooled out onto whatever floor we were on. I struggled to catch my breath, especially since I was still holding up Osamu. The brunette must've realized that I was about to fall, leading him to grab on tighter to the control panel, so he didn't fall with me. I fell backwards, relishing the stale air. I am never going into an elevator again.
"Dazai! (Y/n)!" Sigma shouted, after partially catching his breath.
The both of us smiled, giving him a thumbs up.
"Defection detected in flooding program. Commencing drop impact sequence, starting now."
So... it's not over yet?
Shortly after the explosion, the elevator began to drop. We were thrust against the ceiling as it entered freefall.
I know that I'll be alright, but Sigma and Osamu... they can't survive something like this. My ability can only lift what my body can physically lift, so I can't stop this! Where's Chuuya or Bones when you need them?
Clenching my fist, I knew what I had to do. I might not have been able to pull it off if Sigma wasn't already in front of the door.
Drawing blood from my wrist by biting into it, I was able to make a rectangle, about the size of a book, which was attached to my blood rope. From the time we were falling I counted the seconds in between each floor.
Five.
Five.
Five.
Four.
Four.
Right after the last flash of light, I shot my blood rope out, aiming the flat part to land on Sigma's back, successfully pushing him out onto one of the floors without injuring him.
"The rest is up to you, Sigma," I smiled.
Surely, I could've gone with him. I ran through all the possibilities, which all came to one conclusion. Osamu would die. My ability wouldn't have worked on him, or if he was holding onto me or Sigma while I was using it.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Osamu get behind me, crouching on the wall, as he placed his hands on my back. "Don't worry about me. Just get out of here, (Y/n)."
"No!" I grabbed his arm from behind me, so I could turn around to face him. My arm wrapped around his neck, while the other covered his head. He let out a small gasp, once he realized my intentions. "Looks like you may be getting your double suicide after all."
*Screech* I tightly closed my eyes, knowing what was coming next. A loud metal bang echoed through the elevator, as the back of my entire body splattered against the floor. Osamu groaned in pain, as he quickly rolled off of me, making sure that he wasn't in contact with my body.
"So, you finally lost your value in living?" The brunette chuckled.
It hurt to move, but I was able to slightly turn my head, as I felt the searing pain of my spine trying to reconnect its fragments. "No, but I might've if you died, and I was still here." Suddenly, I felt two hands snake under my arms, before my body was slowly being dragged, inch by inch. "Osamu, what are you doing?"
"It's dangerous to stay in that elevator." As I looked up at him, I noticed that there was blood seeping from his head. "We need to get out of-"
"Osamu, listen." I still couldn't move anything besides my head, so I opted to lean my cheek against his hand. "You need to stop Fyodor. That's the whole reason we let ourselves get arrested, right? As I am now, I'm just going to slow you down. Leave me here and go on. It'll take you a while to get there, since you're injured too." I gave him a weary smile. "I'll catch up to you in five minutes, I promise. You dragging me is only going to set back my regeneration."
"I can't just leave you here."
'Yes, you can. You have no other choice."
I felt the warmth on my shoulders disappear, as Osamu pulled away and scooted over to the wall.
"Please, stay safe."
I let out a tired giggle. "Don't worry. I don't plan on leaving you any time soon."
