I stand at the foot of the mountain looking at the map in my hands. "How am I?" I lower the map looking at a small river cutting through the forest. "T..this should be the parking lot!" I look around at the same landmarks. "they are the same! so how? Where did my motorcycle go!?" I panic picking up the map and turning it a few times wondering If I took the wrong path. "oh no... oh no..." I pull out my phone but there is no signal "shit!" I groan 'I forgot thats why Aaron told me to bring a map.' I frown looking around some more. I wander around the area hoping to find my motorcycle or a warden any of the two would work. 'Ugh, How can I be so dumb!? I have no sense of direction.' I check the map again before turning towards the area I came from. "maybe if I retrace my path?" I whisper feeling the chill of night already coming down. I pull out my sweatshirt and slip it on. I start walking back down the path I'd taken. The sky is already getting darker and my flashlight is the only thing giving me light. I stop at a fork "t..this wasn't here when I came by." I murmur turning my light to check down each path. 'the hell?' I scan the path I had just walked down. "it's a lot colder than I packed for." I whine as I hug myself to keep myself a bit warmer. My eyes widen as the snow starts to fall. "the hell!? there was nothing on the forecast about snow!" I reach my hand out letting the snow fall in my palm. "ah damn." I frown turning back to the fork. 'uhm... what did dad use to say when I was a kid?' I look at the fork 'Right is always right.' I repeated his wise instructions or I hoped they were right. I look at the two paths 'right...' I start walking down a path I believed to be right. 'this is right... I hope.' I sigh as I keep walking. After walking for a few more hours watching the snow starts getting too deep to keep walking. 'I need to set up camp before the ground gets covered.' I felt that was the right choice seeing as the snow was not letting up. I find a clearing where the snow isn't as deep and start setting up my tent. "oh well, I think I still have an extra pack of food and some extra water." I sit in front of the tent checking my pack. '2 water bottles and some beef jerky...' I sigh before walking around the clearing to gather some sticks and hopefully some dry kindling. I found some sticks but kindling was not an option. I walk over to my tent and start a small pile of logs. I pull out an old rapper made of paper. "I can use this... I hope." I feel nervous. The fire started and quickly warmed me for the time being while I ate and drank some water. I watched the snow fall for a while waiting for the fire to die out. I covered the fire pit with snow so the fire would not catch anything while I slept. I crawl into my tent and the sleeping bag. "I'll figure out a way home tomorrow," I whisper as I fall asleep. 'Despite everything thats gone wrong, this is nothing compared to before.' I reassured myself as I fell asleep.
The sound of snorting woke me up with a start. I open my tent and before I have the time to react I am being thrown in the air. The tent catches my arm in the tent flat. My eyes found a man bleeding from his chest. I gasp in horror as I fall out of the tent and down into the snow. I roll to a stop near the base of the large tree I'd chosen as a marker. I push myself up off my back as this man slides to the ground taking my tent with him. I can hear the snapping of the poles holding my tent up as he sits on it. The momentary fear leaves me followed quickly by worry. "h...Hey!" I shout seeing his eyes lift to me. "Oh my... are you!?" I stand up and rush to the guy. "Food!" he shouts as he darts for me. 'food!?' I take a step back 'a cannibal?' I take a few more steps back my blood draining as this man suddenly turns into a bear. "A.... a fucking bear!?" I shout in horror before turning to run. 'Fuck! Fuck! this is so not what I should be doing but what am I supposed to do!?' I had closed my eyes out of fear making me unaware of the danger I was running right into. The sound of heavy panting and crunching snow was my only warning. I open my eyes and the fear from before crippled me again. I scream in horror losing control of my bowels. I use my arms to cover my head hoping this thing would ignore me. I waited for the bear to start mawling me to death but It never came for me. I lifted my head looking around the area. It's clear but I can still hear the sound of fighting behind me. I turn my attention to the two bears seeing them snap at each other. I turn to face them walking backwards to try to find a place to hide. I decided to run despite the danger I was near. I run towards an area where the trees seem more tightly grown. 'I hope it's too tight for that thing to follow!' I close my eyes as I run annoyed by how the cold air stung my lungs. I slip falling onto my stomach and hitting my chin. "ugh!!" I reach up to rub the pain away from my chin. The snow crunches just next to me. I gasped turning to the sound of snow crunching near me. My body is unwilling to move from the hit I just took. My eyes find one of the bears looming over me with blood dripping from its mouth 'Oh this isn't smoky the bear!' I lay there splayed like a low-carb buffet. "H..hey.... hey buddy." I greet. "uhm....y..you...you wouldn't want to eat me." I started reasoning with it hoping that would save me. "I...uhm... I ...I don't have much fat... a...and I taste bad." I watch it get closer by reaching its paw at me. I close my eyes 'Ugh! this is it! free for only nine months.' I gasp in shock from being lifted by the belt of my pants. "What's a girl doing out here?" 'How is it!?' I open my eyes only to be met by a rather rugged-looking man with dark beady eyes and dotlike brows. "a...h..human.." I whisper before I throw up what I ate the night before. "hmm... You soiled yourself." he points out. I blush "W..well! Excuse..." I try to snap back but this man could be dangerous. He was a bear just a second ago! He killed that other one and I am a twig in comparison. I could die if I spoke incorrectly to him. "I... know," I resign my attitude hiding my face with my hands.
