I felt Audrey's aura flare in the mountains again but it seemed to dwindle. 'this is the second time today she's flared it that hard.' The elder and I had taken a walk to the mountain when I asked about it. The barrier the elder always made sure to reenchant shattered suddenly. 'Husband of the little naga!' I flinch hearing a man's voice boom into my ears. I turn to the elder who is quickly running to the mouth of the cave. Audrey's aura keeps flaring before stringing again almost into nothing. 'Hurry! the little Naga needs your aid! Don't let her die in my prison!' The voice begged. I follow the elder to the mouth of the cave. "I'll call your mother and your troops! Go!" He shouts as he points at a dark rift in the mouth of the cave. I quickly rush into the rift the sound of gunfire becomes defeating. My eyes find her aura shrunk into a small ball. She holds several guns on her body holding back the attackers. I can smell her blood wafting in the air. 'they hurt Audrey!' I kick my ass into gear "Audrey!" I shout causing her to stop shooting. I push her behind me using my aura to block the bullets. I can feel her clothes are soaked and she smells of death. 'These fucking pricks!' I unseal my aura to create a layer around Audrey. I hear my mother rush to Audrey "M...my dad he got hit with a shrapnel bomb!" She shouts more worried about her father. "No! you are bleeding out!" My mother fights back. "I'm fine! Dad stopped breathing a second ago!" she shouts refusing treatment. Mother gave up on convincing Audrey. "take her away from the line of fire!" she orders going to what Audrey had pointed her to. Once they had taken Audrey out of the way my men formed up stepping over the bodies that piled in the cave. "Woah, there is no way that little thing did this." some of them seemed shocked. "Focus on the enemy," I order. I examined the men who had backed away once their bullets became useless. 'they have no auras. Like the snakes before.' I flinch "Audrey! Audrey! stay with us!" I can hear my mother's troops shouting. 'I need to get this done quick!' I pull my sword out and look at these men. "Not one will remain alive!" I give the order before lunging into action. My sword and aura proved stronger than their guns. I sliced down the enemy I found a large number of men had created a choke at the entrance of the cave. "We need to send me to help Audrey and the doc!" Two men rush towards us as we finish the last of these guys. They looked at me unsure of what to do. "Audrey! Audrey!!!" I turn back hearing my mother scream. "Audrey!" I quickly run to my mother feeling the suffocating lack of Aura in this world. "You lot help the men!" I point at the two men who had run towards us. "Fuck! Fuck! fuck! Audrey!!" I hear my mother panic "Her aura is fading due to a lack of natural aura!" my mother shouts. I walk up to Audrey seeing she's riddled with bullet holes. I spot a sword lying nearby, I pick her up and take the sword before rushing back to our world. I set her down nearby as my mother carried her father back. "we need to be quick! she's not breathing!" she shouts her men quickly push me away. I look at my hands covered in her blood 'Was I too late?' I watch as they use a defibrillator to shock Audrey. 'No, no I couldn't have been late!' I feel my heart beat loudly. 'Is the last time I'll see you be your last day here?' I fall onto my ass watching deaf to the world. My ears trained on Audrey making this world around me none existent. 'Please, please don't leave me.' I beg her as they treat her wounds some more before using the defibrillator once more. I flinch hearing her heartbeat weakly "Audrey! Audrey!" I crawl closer grabbing her leg seeing the wounds still bleeding. "please." I beg throwing away the pride my father said a man should carry. "Please don't die," I begged as her heartbeat died out. I look up at Audrey the medics keep healing her this time using the defibrillator while healing her wounds. I move my hands away as the shock rushes through my body. Her heartbeat jolts followed by a desperate gasp of air. "We've got her!" The men shout quickly incubating her. "We need to transfuse blood! she's lost a lot!" They shout to my mother. I turned to see she was in her battle against the clock. "Alright! quickly!! Don't lose the heartbeat! get Audrey to the hospital!" she shouts. "yes ma'am!" One of the men shifts into an owl form as the other straps Audrey into a stretcher. They quickly took her to the hospital I wanted to follow but there was still trouble on the other side. "Kogen! we cannot forget the mission we were given!" My mother shouts. I frown going back to finish the job. The numbness I felt was quickly replaced by red-hot rage. 'I will purge those that made my wife suffer.' The smell of her blood sticks to me as a deadly reminder of what failure looked like. I can still hear my men fighting these things off. 'They are running out of aura...' I step through the door flaring my aura. 'I will purge the remainder of this scum with my own hands.' I leap past my troop "If You can no longer fight! gather the dead and the wounded!" I shout finding most of my men still followed. My sword sliced body after body leaving no trace of their existence in this world. The hot sun hits my back as I chase those that run. 'I dislike playing mouse but this filth needs to pay three folds for harming Audrey.' I finally kill the last one standing out in the open desert. I toss the dead body aside "Sir!" I turn to Idris and Leo. "We have killed them all as ordered." they confirm. I see an older man walk out of a vehicle. "We should get into the base before any more of them decide to show up." he offers. I narrow my eyes "We need to build up the fence before they get past it again! Audrey and the Doc worked too hard for them to get their hands on what they have found!" His words ring in my ear. 'Audrey's spent her time working on something.' I look out at the sand before following the man. "Leader! These people are part of the snake tribe!" I watch Odis run up holding a severed arm with the snake tribe seal. I take the arm and frown 'How did they come here? to a world vastly different from ours?' I look up at the man waiting for us. I nod "For now they are gone, those who can still stand this vacuum aid Audrey's troops to rebuild their defenses!" I give the order as my men gather from their scattered hunts. "yes sir!" The man leading us seems nervous. I can see some of my men already used up most of their auras and it was not naturally recovering. I look at the group of people consisting of both men and women cleaning up the mess. "Audrey! Where is Audrey and the Doc!?" I spot the man with the blonde hair running into the area from the back. "Those who have depleted their auras get back into the rift!" I am not comfortable with what the lack of aura would do to their bodies. "Sir! we found a room with Audrey's scent!" I turn to Leo as he points to a building. "Hey! get away from there!" A man about my height quickly tries to push Leo away. Leo may look scrawny but he is not one to be trifled with. He quickly clocks the man in the face. "Tch! Don't think you can order us around." he huffs. "Leo, enough." I walk over to the building. The man who has been sat on his ass watched me. "W...what makes you think you can." "Are you Kogen?" I look over at the blonde man and turn my eyes back to Audrey's room not interested in giving them an answer. I had noticed the arsenal of weapons they had with them and yet they failed to protect Audrey from harm. I walk into the room seeing paper scattered about a blanket on the ground with pillows. Her scent is heavy in this room and all of her habits spell her space. "Do you want me to pick things up?" I turn to Leo. I shake my head "I've got it, you help the others around the base." I order. He nods "Got it." he answers quickly closing the door. I scan the room seeing all of the notebooks scribbled on and the papers with sketches. I notice a sketch mixed with her blanket. I sit down and lift the paper feeling a mixture of pleasure and sorrow. 'She took every aspect of my face from memory and put it on paper.' I take in her scent before I get back up. 'I need to take these to her. If she worked hard on these I need to be sure she has them when she wakes up.' I started picking up all of the pages and notebooks that carried her scent the strongest. After about an hour of checking for anything else, I might have forgotten. I hear a knock on the door before it opens "Uhm, I thought you'd need a box for her things." the blonde guy hands me a box. I look at the box before taking it from his hands. "S...she left this behind in the Ancestor cave." he holds something out for me. 'the ancestor, that thing again, why is it important?' I turn seeing a bag stained with blood. I feel my heart ache when the scent of her blood reaches my nose. I take the bag and set it down on the bed. "How is she?" He asks I look at the box packed full of her things now. "I'm not sure." I answer "Sam! why are you letting him take Audrey's things!?" The other guy hasn't learned to stop yelling. "Dan, enough, This is Audrey's.... husband." He sounds heartbroken saying it. "Her what? how can you be so sure!? Have you met the guy before!? We can't let him take all of her hard work!" He tries to fight. "Dan! I said enough!" The blond man raised his voice. "Sir! The rift is closing! we need to leave quickly!" I turn to Idris who pushes the brunette away. I nod "Alright, gather the men, we are leaving." I order. "what!? after y..." The older-looking man smacks the brunette's head. "enough out of you or I will have you locked up." He huffs before looking at me. "We will finish up the cleanup. Thank you for the aid you've provided my men." he offers his thanks. I nod picking up Audrey's things "We will keep this camp here, I doubt this is the last we've seen of this religious group and there is still a city we need to take back from their hands." He huffs. I nod "I will inform Audrey of your plans, I doubt there will be another chance you will see her." I inform him. He nods "I am aware of that, Doctor Morales has told me the boundaries between our world and yours." He answers I nod walking out of the door he steps aside. I spot Leo rounding up the men "Let's get home quickly." I tell Idris following after Leo and the others making sure not one of them got left behind.
