trigger warning! lose of a baby!
I sat in the room, looking at the list of Items Kogen had special ordered shipping for, and I felt so excited for the coming winter. 'Corn flour, Guajillo, chili ancho, cascabel, chille de arbol.' I nodded, hoping this was all I needed. I set the page down and looked at all of the cute baby Items Kogen insisted we buy. A baby bassinet, baby toys, blankets, and towels. 'We could have bought these back home.' I smile recalling how excited Kogen looked while we shopped. I hated having to scold Aurora each time she made a stupid comment about how ugly/gross Kogen looked. I looked at my travel bag wondering how I was going to fit all of this in it. "Audrey, do you need help?" Kogen asks. I nod putting the clothes together they fit with my stuff but the larger things don't. "Uhm, well I can't fit these in my bag," I answer pointing to the baby toys and the bassinet. He nods "I can get those shipped home before we leave tomorrow." He offers. I look at the items and nod "Alright, That would be better than bringing them with us." I agree. "The general invited us to a gathering tonight, he said it was a way to introduce you to his tribe and the Thunderbird tribe." He explains. I understand what the gathering is for but I didn't feel excited at all. 'If Aurora acts like that I don't want to see the people who created such a disgusting personality.' I sigh wordlessly expressing my dislike. He kisses my forehead "We can go and greet them and leave right after if you like." He offers the plan. I hugged him knowing I would be dragged around like a freak show and it only made me feel uncomfortable. "Alright," I answer. He hugged me comforting me as much as he could right now before we had to leave. That night Kogen and I stand in front of a large mansion. The number of people going in and out only made my anxiety increase. 'It's going to be crowded.' I hug Kogen's arm and follow him inside. 'I feel so out of place.' I had grown so used to the relaxed life of the village that the city life was making me both nervous and uncomfortable. We walk into the building where I can see a large number of people gathered together talking and exchanging pleasantries. 'This is such a different world to ours.' I press my body to Kogen's arm wanting to hide from all of these people. "Ah! Audrey!" I turn my eyes to The general who quickly walks over to us. I smile nervously at him giving him a small wave. "G..good evening sir." I greet. "My you must feel so out of place." he seemed worried. "W..well, there are a lot more people than I thought," I answer honestly. He nods "This is my family and the Thunderbird tribe." he answers. He points to his tribe off to the right. There are a lot of people and there are so many of them dressed in very fancy outfits. I look to the right seeing the large tribe of Thunderbirds. I feel so dwarfed by the sheer number of them. 'We have only four...' I feel my heart ache seeing how happy and boastful some of these people are. So many fearlessly show their auras off. 'We had.' I grip Kogen's arm feeling resentment and how well they had grown over the years. Kogen puts his hand on my head patting it carefully. "It's alright, Audrey," he whispers. I look at him and nod doing my best to calm down. "Come I should introduce you to the others." The general leads us towards the center of the room. I look around the sea of Pheonixes and Thunderbirds standing as a single Naga. I feel like the Island alone in the middle of a sea that could swallow me at any given time. "Good evening!" The General boomed. His voice caught the attention of the others with all eyes on him. "I want to thank you all for coming on such short notice." he starts with gratitude. 'They have been gorging themselves.' I hear The ancestor scoff. I look at my sword resting on Kogen's hip. I look at the people who have now mixed together waiting for the announcement the General had. "I have gathered you all here tonight to introduce a very important person." He holds his hand out for me to take. I look at Kogen who gives me an assuring nod. I take his hand and step up next to him all eyes quickly shifting to me. "This is Ezra Audrey," he announces my name which quickly silences all the chattering around us. I feel my saliva start to overproduce as I feel nauseous with how many eyes are now focused on me. "She is the heir of the Naga tribe and I hope you can make her feel welcomed into our family." he adds his hopes to his introduction. I watch Aurora walk out of the crowd followed by Helen. Helen smiles at me before she walks over to us. "Audrey, these are the heirs of the Phoenix and the Thunderbird tribe." He introduces me. I look at Aurora who I already knew was his heir before looking at Helen. She smiles at me brightly "I hope we can be good friends." she holds her hand out. I smile taking her hand "I'm sure we can." My body is trembling with how nauseous I feel. "Aurora." The General states. I look at her and watch her roll her eyes before holding out her hand. "I hope we can become friends." she grumbles. I quickly cover my mouth feeling my lunch rise to my throat. "Audrey?" Kogen steps up. I turn to him and try to push back the urge to vomit. "So you find the offering of friendship sickening!?" Aurora snaps. I pick up my hand hoping she could give me a second or two. "Are you feeling sick?" The general asks. I take a deep breath and shake my head "S..sorry I feel a little Nauseo..." I gag before covering my mouth again. "Here let me get you to a restroom." Helen offers. I nod turning to her trying not to focus on the need to puke. "Hey! how dare you ignore me again!" Aurora shouts pulling my shoulder. I gag before everything comes up covering her entire clothes in my puke. 'Ah fuck... that's embarrassing.' I hold my stomach as I can't stop. "Here." He quickly holds a bag up to my face. The Phoenixes started to chatter upset with what they thought was disrespect. I feel Helen rub my back while holding my hair. I keep my face near the bag as I try to gauge if there is anything left. "Silence do not take a pregnant woman's illness for disrespect!" the General booms his distaste. I take a deep breath before lifting my head "Are you feeling alright?" Kogen asks. "A... a little better." I answer wiping my mouth. He sighs "You should go get cleaned up." He offers. I nod "Here this way." Helen offers leading me and Aurora out of the ballroom. I look at Aurora feeling a little bad for ruining her clothes. They brought me to a restroom where I rinsed my mouth and double-checked that my clothes were not ruined. I waited for Aurora and Helen to finish what they were doing. 'Audrey, hide.' I flinch hearing the ancestors warning again. I hid my aura and stayed in the restroom not brave enough to look outside. Helen and Aurora walked out of their stalls and looked at me funny. "What are you doing?" they ask. I look at the door and lift my finger to my lip. They look at each other as I wait for the ancestor to say something. 'Quick! get to Kogen they are looking for you!' He urges me. I nod quickly grabbing Helen's arm and running out of the bathroom. I feel so blind without my aura. 'Where is Kogen!?' I panic looking around I spot him talking with the general in the center of the room still. 'hurry!' I urge myself running as fast as I can without tripping. I feel a sharp pain hit my lower back followed by Helen screaming in horror. I trip from the pain falling onto my palms and knees. "Audrey!" Kogen's voice booms with anger as I try to get some air. I look at my stomach seeing a metal bar sticking out of me. I gasp 'm...the... the baby!' the pain grows once Kogen stretches me up. I push him away not wanting to feel this pain. I fall onto my feet unable to breathe with the horror of what's just been done. "Audrey." Kogen steps closer 'Audrey! your aura! Release it!' The ancestor shouts. I fall to my knees feeling so angry I can't help but let out my own anger.
