The aftermath

The group took up residence in the hidden city as they rested and recovered. Kogen and Audrey took up the library since it was where they had already set up a sleeping area. It's been 3 days since the fighting had stopped. Ammar sent his men around the Island gathering any of the enemies that survived. The aftermath of the earthquakes resulted in two tsunamis one hitting mainland Norsta and the other hitting Lograin's shores. The number of deaths from the war spiked to 3000 men and women from the enemy fleet and 1500 men from the 12 leaders army. Olivia and her team have been working round the clock to treat the severely injured. Kogen sent his men out with the others since they were more adept at their home. The Leaders that came with the fleet of enemies were captured swiftly hiding near the nearly destroyed port city of Zeras. 

I feel so blind without my aura. I lay in bed unwilling to move with how badly my aura glands stung. I sit up hearing my children whine in hunger. I take a deep breath already regretting how headstrong I was acting before. I lift my arms watching them shake in protest. I clench my hands into fists and take one more deep breath. "Here," I look up at Kogen as he hands me the smaller of the two babies. I smile quickly holding her to my chest. 'I am so glad I pumped some milk back then.' I looked at my baby as she ate delightfully. She is small her cheeks are chubby her hair is thick. The three eyes on her tell me just about all I need to know. "Astrid don't rush you might choke on the milk." I turn my eyes to Kogen who is rocking our other child. This baby is a lot bigger than Astrid. Her feet are chubby and her cries are loud. I feel my body tingle watching how well Kogen was caring for her. I watched my husband the tall six foot seven about 200 pounds angry-looking Leader of the bear tribe. His brows are permanently frowning and his beady eyes seem to soften for the child in his arms. I look at Astrid who is lulling away to her meal. "You are going into a food-induced coma."  I giggle watching her struggle to stay awake and eat all at the same time. I fix her hair wanting to keep her hair away from any spilling milk. I recall Alma and her tribe. 'I haven't been able to recover my aura since I sealed away that dude.' I feel worry start to creep into my mind.  Astrid lets go of my nipple already falling asleep. I giggle "Sleep is too strong huh?" I put her up to my shoulder and start burping her. "Here, I'll burp Astrid, Tabitha is getting hangry." He lays Tabitha down next to me before taking Astrid. I smile at how carefully he handles Astrid. "Seeing how small Astrid is I understand why they fought so much," I murmur. He holds Astrid to his shoulder and snickers. I pick Tabitha up and let her eat. The mornings have started like this since the battle ended. Dad would give me soft updates about what was going on outside and the progress around the Island. I look at Tabitha the youngest of the two. She is chubby in the entirety of the descriptions. Her hands look like the Michelin man from the tire company. Her hair and brows are thin her cheeks are rosy from her tantrum and her nose is small. She was a slow eater unlike Astrid she took her time. Tabitha was not a Naga like Astrid but rather a bear like her dad. These girls have only been in this world for about a month and yet. They have already become my everything. "You are just like your aunt." I turn to Kogen as he rocks the already burped Astrid. "When she was a baby she also fell asleep as soon as her belly was full." He talked to the sleeping Astrid. I feel my heart swell hearing him talk to Astrid. 'This man.' I turn away from him as the most obscene thoughts start racing through my mind. 'You sir, deserve all the children my body can give.' I close my eyes letting out a disappointed sigh. 'I swear, you are such a simp!' I scold myself. I take a deep breath 'You Audrey need to calm the fuck down. You Audrey are a disappointment to your own words.' I scold myself. I look at Tabitha who is watching me curiously while she eats. Her large eyes seem to see right through me. 'Oh my gosh, I am going to eat these cuteies!' I poke her cheek making her frown in annoyance. 'oh gosh she is just the cutest.' I turn away from her holding back the cute aggression I felt. I spot Olivia and Livy walking into the area. "Oh did I walk in on feeding time?" Olivia asks. I smile at her "What is it?" Kogen asks. He is clearly upset that he was about to get pulled away from us. Olivia shakes her head "Nothing, I just came to visit my grandchildren." She smiles at him. He nods letting her look at Astrid "I came here to give Audrey a quick check-up, and if I can just to make sure the girls are not having any difficulties." Livy speaks up. Kogen nods watching Livy walk past Olivia and him. She sets her bag down before starting the check-up. "I see your milk flow is still going strong." She points out. I nod straightening my back for her to do her physical on me. "Have you been unable to recover your aura?" she asks. I nod "Yeah, it's been a few days." I answer. She nods "It's to be expected since your glands were burnt pretty badly by the forest's aura." she answers. "Not to mention you nearly turned to stone with that spell." she sounds angry. I smile nervously at her. She sighs "Well your body seems to be alright, your heart is beating properly and your breathing is fine." she looks at her clipboard. "There are no remaining burns on your skin, no discoloration in your eyes and your voice is doing just fine." she murmurs as she checks things off on her board. "Alright, I will need to check on the girls." she tells me. I watch her walk up to Olivia who starts telling her what she's felt and found from Astrid while holding her. Kogen looks at his mother and our child. He turns his eyes to me and offers me a prideful grin. I blush feeling so shy about the pride in his eyes. I returned a shy smile before turning back to Tabitha whose already finished eating.  Tabitha just like Astrid starts dozing off once I rest her on my shoulder. A few careful rubs on her back gave me that burp to assure me she would not get any colic. I lay her on the bed not trusting my legs would let me take her to her crib. I look at Don's sword sitting against the wall wrapped in black tape. Since the fight ended I have not heard him talk or felt his aura. Ash has also stayed quiet since the ordeal. 'I need to get Alma and the others back here.' I turn my eyes to the papers Blake's men gathered from the broken Grimoire. Dad and Grandpa asked me to focus on recovering and looking after the girls. From the small updates I've been given, it sounds like Zeras needs a lot of repairs, and a lot of people back in Norsta have died due to the sudden tsunami. 'I'm so glad Yyvonne is way deeper in the land.' I wanted to see Yyvonne after all of this I just wanted to go back to normal life. I wanted to wake up in my home to the arguments of Kogen and Yyvonne about breakfast. I look at Tabitha who is sleeping comfortably on my bed. "Are you hungry?" I look up at Kogen watching him lay Astrid in her crib before walking over to me. "I could go for some food." I murmur. He noticed how upset I felt. "whats got you down?" he asked picking Tabitha up before sitting down next to me. I lean on him letting out a deep sigh "I just want to go back to normal." I murmur. He says nothing and simply sits there with me. "After we are done cleaning up and gathering the remaining stragglers we can try and return to normal." His answer gave me a little bit of hope but it sounded like a long time from now. "I'll go get us something to eat, lay down for now." He spoke up once I did not answer his reassurance. I nod sitting up he gets up and takes Tabitha to her crib. He turns to face me "It may take some time but, We will get back to normal." he walks up to me. I look up at him as he holds my chin "For now, we should try to rest and recover from all of this fighting." he leans down and kisses my third eye. I close my eyes feeling his aura so close. I hug him relishing in the scent his body gave off. He straightens up giving me a reassuring smile. I sigh giving him a hopeful smile "Alright." I whisper "Kogen! you cannot have sex until after two months!" His mother scolds him. I feel my face heat up before we both break out laughing. 'oh my gosh did it look bad?' I hid in Kogen's shirt laughing at how embarrassing that was. "Oh, you were just giving her a hug." Olivia peeks at us. I lift my face to look at her only able to laugh. 'I mean yeah I feel extremely horny but, I know it's not a good idea to have sex after giving birth.' I watched her turn her attention to Tabitha while Livy did her check-up. "I'll be back with food." Kogen rubs my cheek with his thumb before walking away. I watch him walk out of the library. "Audrey you should rest a little more." Olivia turns to me slightly. I nod laying back down on my pillow feeling cold without my aura. I grab the blanket and Kogen's pillow to warm up and feel comfortable.
