Aurelia stares at her phone on the table. She nervously waits for Cameron's call. He didn't text nor call since yesterday, and when she got back home, from Andrew's place, he still didn't call. She's starting to get worried, really worried. Andrew told her not to worry and to trust Cameron's word, but she knows her best friend. He's a terrible liar and when something's bad, his voice gets low. She's sure the accident is a lot worse than he's saying it is. From what he told her, the guy he was hanging out with, and a few other friends, got too drunk at one of the basketball games after parties. They decided to drive to the nearest restaurant for something to eat, but he said that it was raining and snowing at the same time, which meant ice, so they flipped. Aurelia's heart stopped when he told her he was in the hospital but he's okay. It didn't sound that way.

"Relia?"

She pulls her eyes from her phone to her friend, Desiree, who's sipping her iced coffee from the plastic straw. Aurelia smiles a bit and holds her cup of ice lemon tea. "Yeah?"

"I asked if you are alright?" she says again, making her look away. "You seem super tense. Not excited. Especially since you're getting a free trip to Germany."

Aurelia shakes her head. "My friend, Cameron, said he would call but he hasn't called yet. I'm worried, Des."

"Maybe he's embarrassed, that's why he doesn't want to talk about it." Desiree tries to ease her worry, but that only makes her sad. He didn't tell her much because he thought she would be disappointed in him. That's not even on her list of concerns.

"I just hope he calls, or I'll be spamming him all night until he answers." She says sighing before turning her phone screen first on the table, drinking her tea.

Desiree rubs her arm and smiles. "Aurelia, compared to how you were when I first met you, it's like you morphed into an entirely different person."

"Really?" She laughs softly tilting her head, thinking back to those times. She had to agree with her. It's like she broke out of the shell she was holding herself in.

"Yes really, I'm also glad I didn't have to bash some heads in," she leaned forward, so only she could hear. "And I'm not talking about skulls."

Desiree is referring to that dark time between her and the men she is currently dating. Desiree wasn't the only one who was ready to beat them down. All of her new close friends were. The close friends she had never thought she would have had she not found confidence in herself and believe in herself.

Laughing Aurelia looks up from Desiree the moment a familiar scent of body spray hits her nose. Vinny is standing beside her, his hands behind his back. Her smile slowly fades. "Yes?"

"Can I talk to you?" He asks, his voice desperate, but his face looks like he hasn't slept in days. "Alone?"

"Whatever you have to say, you can say it in front of my friend as well." she tells him, looking away, swirling her ice tea around in her cup, just so she wouldn't have to look at him.
