Alaric Montclair's POV
The air was crisp and clean as Alaric Montclair, the leader of the European wizarding community, stepped onto the soil of their new home: Starhold. This land, untouched and full of potential, stretched out beneath the towering mountains and open plains that would soon be transformed into a thriving civilization. Behind him, a contingent of European wizards followed, each eager to begin building their future.
The magic of the Draconic Heart Core surged through him, and though they had not yet bonded with dragons, the power was unmistakable. This new strength, this connection to something ancient and powerful, guided their every step as they made plans for their new world.
"This is where it begins," Alaric said to his inner circle, gazing out over the vast expanse of their continent. "The heart of Starhold."
Laying the Foundation of Starhold
Alaric and his team moved toward the center of the chosen area, where their capital city would be built. They had decided to call it Skyhaven, a tribute to the skies that seemed endless above them and to the idea of reaching new heights, both literally and metaphorically.
"This central valley, surrounded by the mountains, is ideal for our capital," Alaric said, surveying the land. "We'll build our government buildings here, along with the homes for our leaders and essential ministries. The mountains will provide natural protection and resources."
His closest advisor, Renard, nodded in agreement. "We could use the cliffs to carve out secure fortresses and structures, ensuring both defense and a commanding view of the surrounding lands."
"The city will be built in layers," Alaric continued. "The higher tiers will be reserved for government and military command, while the lower levels will house schools, marketplaces, and homes. We'll create a city that rises from the earth, as strong as the stone beneath our feet."
Leona, a planner in charge of logistics, added, "We'll need to establish clear trade routes from the capital to the smaller towns and villages we plan to build. These routes will be vital for connecting resources, magical goods, and people between the regions."
Creating the Infrastructure
As the city plans took shape, the infrastructure for Starhold began to materialize. Alaric and his team discussed the key elements needed to make their continent self-sustaining and ready for growth.
"We'll need a strong network of roads connecting the towns and villages across the continent," Alaric explained, pointing to a map laid out before them. "Each village should be responsible for a specific resource or trade—whether that's agriculture, craftsmanship, or magical innovation."
Renard added, "We can build watchtowers along the key routes to ensure safety for travelers and merchants. Each town should also have its own defensive measures. We're still new to this world, and we don't know what threats may come."
Leona suggested the placement of magical portals for swift travel between major towns and the capital. "Portals could be key in connecting the continent quickly, especially during emergencies or for important government business. We should establish portal hubs in the larger towns and the heart of Skyhaven."
Alaric considered this. "Agreed. Magic will be our strength, and we'll weave it into the very fabric of our society. Let's make sure that the capital and each of the towns are connected not just by roads, but by magic."
