Caelion's POV / Cythra's POV
The waves crashed softly against the shores of Thalordis, the vast island continent now divided into two realms—one belonging to the Merpeople, and the other to the Sirens. Above the surface, the land was lush and filled with beauty. Below, the ocean teemed with life, each part of the continent waiting to be molded by its new inhabitants.
Caelion, the leader of the Merpeople, stood on the shoreline, staring out over the turquoise waters. The transition from their old home to Thalordis had been seamless. The magic in the waters of this new world had embraced them, and now it was time to create their foundation.
On the other side of the continent, Cythra, the leader of the Sirens, was on the cliffs overlooking the same ocean. Her connection to the waters was strong, but her people were also adept at life on land. This was their chance to truly embrace both sides of their nature.
The two leaders were separated by distance, but united by purpose: to build a thriving home for their people on Thalordis, a place that honored their past while allowing them to grow in this new world.
Caelion's POV – The Merpeople's Kingdom
Caelion waded into the gentle waves, feeling the water pull him in as it always had. But here, something felt different. The waters were more magical, more attuned to their needs. He took a deep breath, the air around him thick with the scent of salt and seaweed, and smiled. Thalordis was perfect.
Behind him, the Merpeople, now in their human forms, were beginning to organize themselves. Some were still in awe of the land, touching the sand and marveling at how easily they could now move between their human and sea forms. This new ability allowed them to claim both the land and the sea as their own.
"We must begin," Caelion said, turning to the group of his most trusted advisors. "The ocean is our true home, but this land will be our gateway. We will build above and below, connecting our worlds."
The Merpeople's Infrastructure
The Merpeople's half of Thalordis would stretch from the eastern shores to the great coral reefs below the surface. Caelion knew they needed to balance life both on land and in the sea. He began laying out his plans:
Underwater Palaces: The grand palace of the Merpeople would be constructed deep below the surface, in the heart of the coral reefs. Made of living coral and enchanted shells, the palace would glow with the bioluminescence of the ocean. Caelion and the Royal Family would live there, overseeing the kingdom from beneath the waves.Above-ground Cities: On the land, they would build seaside towns where the Merpeople could stay in their human forms. These towns would serve as trading posts, connecting them to the other magical creatures on the island and beyond. The Great Bridge: A massive, enchanted bridge would be constructed, connecting the land to a series of floating islands where the Merpeople could shift between their two forms. This bridge would serve as a symbol of unity between the two worlds.Neutral Territory: In the center of Thalordis, Caelion knew the land must remain neutral. This central region would be dedicated to diplomatic meetings and shared resources. Here, the Merpeople and Sirens could meet in peace, sharing knowledge and fostering cooperation.
"We will build where the ocean and land meet," Caelion said, pointing to the map. "This will be the seat of our power. Our cities will rise from the sea, but our reach will extend onto land. We will thrive in both."
