I glanced at Charlie who was struggling with her hair.

"What's wrong?" I asked her.

She quickly moved her hair to revel a huge purple hickey right on her neck.

"Oh shit my bad," I said.

"Do you have any?" She asked pulling down my shirt.

"Here." I said pointing to one on the top of my chest.

We quickly turned around as Charlie's mom walked up behind us.

"Charlie Rose!" She yelled walking forward.

Charlie quickly covered her neck with her hair and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Mom I-"

"No Charlie, I wake up to find you not in your bed, no note, nothing and then get a call Mary is in the hospital!? What's going on?" She asked angrily

"Well uh I-" She stuttered.

"It's my fault- I picked Charlie up last night so we could spend the rest of her birthday together, when uh, my mom had a mini heart attack, I was just about to bring her home when my mom collapsed." I said covering her.

"Oh James I'm sorry about your mother." She said.

"What's that?" Her mom asked quickly moving Charlie's hair reveling the large hickey on her neck.

"And what are you wearing Charlie?" She asked pointing to my boxers on her daughter.

She glared up at me and then at Charlie.

"We're all having a long chat after your mother gets better." Her mom said walking away from the two of us.

"Shit James, what if my mom finds out about me losing my virginity? She was always on my back about waiting until I was at least out of high school, preferably married." She wined

"Okay let's get married." I said smiling

She shoved at my chest.

"Really James what do I do?" She asked clearly getting worried.

"Hey calm down it's me, it's not like I'm some random guy your mom hates, you're 18 and you can make your own decisions." I said kissing her forehead.

She sighed into my chest and nodded.

My mom was released later that day and Charlie and I drove home.

We pulled up to the house and my mom got out of the car with us.

Charlie leaned up against the car and sighed.

"Hey if my moms cool with us don't you think your mom will be too?" I asked.

She shrugged.

"Hey no matter what anyone says about us, I wouldn't take back last night for anything. I love you okay?" I asked pulling her to my chest.

"I love you too." She mumbled.

"James?" I heard my mom yell from the backyard.

We ran into the back yard only to find my mom pointing at the pile of clothes on the floor near the tree.

"James why are your clothes outside?" She asked, clearly not noticing how red in the face Charlie was getting.

"I uh um.." I stuttered looking at Charlie.

My mom raised an eyebrow at the two of us.

"Oh I see." She said clearly understanding why our clothes were there.
