"Charlie I have no idea." I said.

It was Friday, finally Friday.

Alex did ask Charlie out, for a movie this Friday.

She dragged me over three hours before the date to help her pick out what to wear.

"Should I wear a dress? Or a skirt? Or just go causal?" She asked.

I was sprawled across her bed reading some teen girl magazine, it was the only one she had.

"Who cares?" I groaned flipping another page.

"I do. I want to make a good first impression." She said.

"You guys have already made out, which isn't usually until the third date so you should be fine with what ever you wear." I said sitting up on the bed.

She stood in front of the mirror holding various clothes up against her body.

"The skirt? Or the dress?" She asked turning around showing me.

The skirt was nice but the dress was this awful colour.

"Skirt." I said.

She nodded.

Once she finally picked out an outfit I left.

He was going to pick her up I believe, and go to the movies at seven.

-charlie-

Seven thirty.

Eight.

Nearly nine o'clock.

Nothing.

"Honey, I don't think he's coming." My dad said walking into the living room.

I nodded.

Stupid, stupid girl believing he actually cared for me.

"You want me to kill him for you? Because you know me Drew and James will." My dad said trying to lighten the mood a bit.

I shook my head.

"He probably forgot, I'm just uh, I'll just call James see if he wants to do anything." I said walking outside and dialing James' number.

"Charlie." He said once he answered.

"Hi James can you um, pick me up at my house?" I asked.

"What about Alex? Aren't you on your date?" He asked.

"Um, no he uh didn't show up but I'm sure he just forgot or is running late or-" James cut me off.

"I'm on my way." He simply said hanging up the phone.

I changed into my sweat pants and threw on my favourite led zeppelin shirt the one I had on when I met James.

Once I went down stairs James and my father were talking.

"Hey babe." James said standing up.

The first thing he did was give the the biggest hug I could have ever Imagined.

I slightly smiled at him.

"I'm glad you dressed for the occasion Charlie." He said wrapping his arm around my waist.

I was in no real mood to laugh but I tried to force one.

"Bye dad." I said hugging him goodbye.

He waved to the two of us as we left.

"Where are we going?" I asked putting my head on my chin and looking out the window of James' car.

"I figured you might not be in the mood to talk much at the moment, so I'd figure we go back to my place and watch the funniest movie I could find." He said.

"I'm sorry, you're the best I'm just in a shitty mood." I said

"Which is expected." He said as we pulled into the driveway.

"You just tell me when you want to talk about it okay?" He said getting out of the car.

I nodded.

I just felt stupid for believing that Alex could actually care for me.

We watched a stupid movie, so stupid it was funny.

He had his arms wrapped around my waist once the movie ended.

"Want to talk about it?" He asked sitting me upright on the couch.

I nodded.

I would have to talk about it at sometime.

"Well I'm just angry that he says he has feelings for me and then he stands me up on our first date." I said sulking

"Did you try calling him?" He asked me.

I nodded.

"A bunch of times." I said sighing.

"Well maybe he just forgot, or something came up, he really does care about you I hope you know." He said trying to make me feel better.

I nodded.

"Do you want to spend the night?" He asked.

"Not so sure my parents would be crazy about that." I told him.

He nodded.

"Then stay longer." He said.

"Okay." I said sitting back on the couch.

We talked for an hour or so then James drove me home because I had curfew.

I was just kind of depressed because Alex truly didn't care about me, and I had to find that out the hard way.

I went to bed early.

I actually haden't slept much, I just kept thinking about Alex.

Why would he lead me on like that?

I had just cried myself to sleep that night.

I woke up around 3:30AM because I heard banging.

I wiped the tears away from my face and walked over to the window.

There was James, standing there with a plate of cookies in one had and flowers in the other hand.

"What the hell are you doing?" I called out the window.

"Making my best friend fell better," He said smiling.

"I don't want you to get in trouble so I'm just going to leave these here and run." He said handing me the plate and flowers through the window.

"James." I called out.

He turned around and looked at me.

"Can you please stay?" I asked.

He nodded.

I had helped him climb in through the window and we had our selves sitting on the floor of my bedroom eating cookies and talking.

"I'm just kind of pissed that he would leave me there like that." I told James.

"I honestly think he fell asleep or something happened, hes not the kind of guy that would do that to anyone." He said.

"Just please don't cry about him, I hate very few things in this world Charlie, but on the top of that list is seeing you cry, especially over someone who isn't worth your tears." He said wiping one from my cheek.

I nodded at him.

"You probably want to get some rest Charlie." He said standing up from the floor.

I shook my head.

"Please just stay here." I begged.

"Okay, okay I'll stay." He said sitting on my bed.

I said next to him and fell asleep in his arms.

I didn't care if I got in trouble by my parents, I needed my best friend now.
