Y/N's POV:

The grand hallway always felt like there were too many wondering eyes in it. Eyes that sniped one's brain and heart, waiting for you to slip up and prove you were unworthy of walking through the corridor of the Royal family's portraits. The depth of the hall made one's breath sound like the paintings were whispering. Whispers that only tore one down and snipped at your feet. Making you want to run but running would only show your weakness.

Now standing in said corridor you couldn't help but feel like they were judging you even more. The portrait of your Great Grandfather Vlad Tepes, his son Edmond who was your grandfather, and of course your father the 3th ruler of Vampires Cassian Tepes. Crowned at the age of 12 due to his father dying at the hands of humans with who he tried to coexist along side. Leading your father's first 100 years as king to be bloody.

The paintings each gave you advice rather than judgment like they used to. The first king's gaze told you to kill anyone who got in your way. Your Grandfather the second king told you to be careful with humans- not to trust them. As for your father's.... He didn't look like the man he was now.

You recalled the stories of his first century as King. Everyone was terrified to tell him "no" or challenge his decisions. No one even dared to breathe his way or even think terribly in fear he would be able to hear their thoughts and destroy them from the inside thanks to his ability. However, in the 104th century your mother Aurora Draconian. She wasn't scared to call him an idiot in his face. She even called him one when she first met him after securing new territory for the court!

Seeing the fire in her eyes, he fell hard. Her harsh attitude made his mask fall off and reveal the broken boy he was. A boy that was full of fear and sadness. A boy who had to grow up far too quickly. Instead of laughing at him or using said weakness as blackmail she instead chose to be his shield. From there the rest was history. She got his mind out of the darkness that allowed peace between Vampires and Humans for 200 years.

You mother, a nobody who rose the ranks of the military quickly to general and in the blink of an eye was crowned Queen.

Would you be proud of me? You wonder as you see the curtain pulled down from the royal portrait of your parents. You really looked like her, minus the eyes. That was your father's. Guess the Draconian genes are stronger than the Tepes!

"How you feeling?"

Looking down the hall, Evelynn stood there with a simple black dress that revealed her left leg completely. Going based on how the upper area hugged her chest, clearly the back was open. Just because she wasn't showing chest didn't mean she wouldn't be showing other areas she was proud of, typical.

"Your late. Where did you go?" You say, walking towards her. Your red shoulder cape with golden leaves pattern swished on the carpet.

"Last minute business." she tilts her head slightly. Letting her slowly turning blonde hair to cascade over her golden eyes. "That uniform suits you."

You roll your eyes. "I look like Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty! Or Wiccan from Young Avengers!"

You wave towards your outfit. It was dark pants with thigh-high boots (which was common for Vampires to use at formal events), a dark button-up shirt that had a black vest with golden rose pattern stitched into it.

She laughs as her arms rest on your shoulders. "A prince you are indeed. Prince charming suits you better than princess. The princess title makes one look weak."

You scoff. "You could've told me this entire time you know" you whisper.

The demon princess lets go of you and takes a step back. She was doing that face that always stabbed your heart- fear. "I didn't because it would've hurt you. Plus your father begged me not to since it was his duty and would put you in danger."
