Warning: violent and choking. Very long chapter.
Wednesday's POV:
It's been a day since the lawn fire. A day since she felt what could be wings growing on your back. A day since her worse nightmare was coming true- a day she never thought would ever come for she always adored nightmares. Yet here she was now, acting like a scared child, clinging to their mother for protection. In her case, it was to her ancestors. In a sense, it could be also interpreted as a scared believer clinging to their faith to save them.
If her past self of a month ago were to see her right now in a seances circle, holding an obsidian crystal her mother gave her stating they were connected. First, she barley did seances for she could barley tolerate the living so why would she tolerate the dead? Second, she was running out of time. The message burnt on the lawn was just a sneak peek of what was coming. If the enemy chose to declare their war with the two of you now, it meant they were getting tired of the mouse and cat game they dragged on for months. They wanted to up the challenge. Lastly, the fact that Sunday night she felt the bone of wings on your back meant that vision of you during the destruction of Nevermore was right around the corner for she never felt it in the past.
No matter how many times she ran through her current evidence nothing new came out. When she couldn't find anything new she pivoted to trying to figure out how on Earth you had wings and why they weren't there weeks ago! It would only be a matter of time till your wings would come tearing out of your back. Once they did, you would either become her enemy or she would lose you. It was clear as day that those wings meant bad news if they appeared in the burning of Nevermore. Them appearing now meant Doom Day was right around the corner. To make matters worse, you've been carrying that damn dagger of yours all the time now since the burning! The rose and thorned dagger you held in the vision!
Due to the lack of development and short time span, she had no choice but to rely on the dead. To learn more about the case, her powers, and you and your family for there were clearly some odd things happening like how no one remembered you having a brother. But also why was your brother trying to start a war?
Hence, here she was! Taking in the fumes of candles and chanting in Latin. Earlier Thing suggested having you help but she shot that idea down with a glare. A glare that defused his spirit just like the door opening defused the candles. Just as her hopes were rising they too were shot down immediately for it wasn't Goody or a spirit answering her call but Enid.
"Oh sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your... do I even want to know?" Wednesday sighed and tried to explain what she was doing. Like always, her colorful roommate didn't understand but tried her hardest to and trying to help. "My tartar candle is to die for!"
Before she could even say anything a note was slipped under the door. "Maybe Goody did answer you after all!"
With a sigh, she picked up the note and opened it. She better have not sent me a birthday letter.
To her luck, it was a letter made of cut-out magazines, telling her to meet at Crackstone's grave. A chill of excitement ran through her veins. Without another word she grabbed her bag and jacket. Enid volunteered to go with her while Thing was about to scurry to alert you. With a quick glare, Thing stopped in his tracks and climbed into her bag.
Although, she came to the conclusion that she couldn't cut you off the case completely, that didn't mean she would drag you into danger! Hope that dumb crow is buried in paper work like you are mi amore.
With a quick look around the area, she and Enid run into the forest. However, she soon came to regret dragging Enid instead of you. Unlike you, Enid wasn't into murder mysteries or trained in combat. She was just a normal civilian who went on with her life ignorant at the wars that happened in the shadows. The entire trip to the grave she kept whimpering, jumping around, and freezing when she heard a sound. If the monster hasn't found us with all this noise then it must know she's a werewolf. Then again, it ran when it saw Y/N was with me. Someone is a spy or is the beast in Nevermore!
