Y/N pov:

"This has to be the weirdest date you've ever been dude" said you best friend, sucking on her blood flavor as she threw you a loaded clip. You caught it without looking, causing your friend to whistle and state you were a show off. But the truth was you couldn't look at the treat she was having because every time you saw a blood lollipop you couldn't help but mirror their color on your face. The indirect kiss with Wednesday was still fresh like a wound.

"It's not a date. We're just going to investigate this new victim that the damn cops got to before we did. Doubt we'll find something new."

Y/B/F/N rolled her now glowing red eyes with a scoff before jumping off your bed. All you could do was try to drown out her chatter about how Wednesday was odd and how sadistic you had become to find her attractive.

"Also..... are you going to accept the proposal?"

You halted your movements. With an empty look you stared at the empty gun with the silencer with no emotions. The same look you had when you opened and read the letter your godfather the King sent you when you got back from the woods. Talking about the court wanting to unite both Vampires and Werewolves together. And currently, a political marriage was one of the options that was on the table. Since you were the only single high-ranking female that was bisexual you are the chosen one to see this through since the Crown Prince of Werewolves was heterosexual. And you were friends with him so the marriage wouldn't be awkward.

"If it's the only option then I'll see through my duty. However, his majesty doesn't seem to big on the idea." You slammed a loaded clip into the gun. "And let's be honest it's the those nobles who want war who want this union. Bastards have been real pushy with the idea of putting the normies under our control again."

Your best friend nodded. "I just hope that for once you can put yourself first. To live eternity with someone who you don't love sounds like hell."

You just nodded. "You know better than anyone I can't do that. It's the price I pay for the power I have as Earl." Just then Atredis swooped in through the window to alert you that the ravenette who was chaining your heart was heading towards your room.

"Well if Wednesday will make you become greedy then so be it. I guess I'll support you and your sadisticness."

"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN!?"

"YOU'RE FUCKING SMILING LIKE AN IDIOT THE MOMENT YOU HEARD HER NAME YOU STUPIED DISASTER HOMOSEXUAL!!"

You then found yourself wrestling with your best friend before she left limping and you with a slowly healing black eye.

Once she was gone you sat down on your bed and gripped your hair tightly, trying to get the letter's words and your friend's comment out. Did you want the marriage? No. But would you do it to help the Vampire Court as Earl? Yes because all your life you were trained into putting the people first before yourself. It wouldn't be the first time you do it since you already has to sacrifice your childhood when your father stepped down to give to you after being Earl for 258 years. You sacrificed many people you saw as friends or kin because they would ruin the image of the court or because they were traitors- forcing you to execute many of them and few locked up. But of the few that are alive, a handful you were forced to torture. Did it hurt? It hurt like hell. What made it worse is that some of them would tell you to hurt them because they deserved it. But the one that hurt the most was your brother's. You looked at you and told you to do it to save yourself.

His screams burnt into your mind and every once in a while would sting.

It's for the people. It's for the people. It's for the people. It's for the people. It's for the people.
