After having spent quite some time in the town hall, two figures exited the building, making their way towards the ever-busy marketplace of Lyugo.
"Do you think I talked too much back there?" The short man looked up at the larger man walking next to him. Though his eyes were hidden, the doctor clearly anticipated a reply from his partner. However, his partner remained silent.
"I suppose not. It's all vital information that they require so they can fully understand the task at hand." reasoned the doctor with himself. "Also, that detail about the Demon Prince... they may be correct. It also lowers the likelihood of us discovering a new species or mutation of goblins. It's discouraging."
His companion had nothing to say, rough breathing being the only sound that escaped his helmet as he walked.
"It hardly matters, I guess. If we get as much as a glimpse into how the nest leader managed to tame and control the goblins to such a degree, it'll be a total victory. We'll be a step closer to our end goal, Ovro."
At that moment, the doctor noticed an intriguing stand in the busy marketplace. He approached it, a curious grin painted over his face.
"Look here, Ovro. Even such a small town has magic scrolls for sale."
"Come, come! Take a good look at my wares, big bro!" sensing a potential customer, the shady peddler who was sitting on a rug next to the stand, stood up. He had a wide, unsettling smirk on his face, much like the doctor.
"You see, I'm a travellin' merchant so this lil' town won't have such quality goods for a looooong time once I'm gone. And I ain't plannin' on stickin' around much longer!" claimed the peddler.
"Is that so?" the doctor muttered as he leaned towards the stand, picking a scroll and inspecting it. "Then I would be thrilled to procure a scroll or two while you're here. What do you recommend?"
"A recommendation, huh? Well, the two of you seem like experienced travellers but you never know when trouble might arise! If you visit a lot of different dangerous places it's best to have three of every basic elemental spell at the ready! Three of fireball, waterbomb, windblast, rock bullet and lightning strike! I actually sell them in a bundle for a discount! 15 master rank scrolls for only 20.000 perun!"
"Interesting..." whispered the doctor unenthusiastically as he moved away from the scrolls, straightening his back. "Pray tell, sir merchant: Do I strike you as a man that has such funds at the ready?"
"Huh? well..." the peddler's grin shrunk into a confused smile, his gaze meeting the floor for a second before looking back at the doctor.
"Don't take this the wrong way, big bro, but you look like you have the coins. As a travellin' merchant I gotta have an eye for good and bad customers, and you look like a man who likes to save his money and spend it wisely, so I made my very special offer right away. Tell you what, I will lower the price to 18.000, just for you." winked the fishy peddler, his confidence having returned fully by that point.
"Hmm..." the doctor remained silent.
"...Well, what'll it be, big bro? 15 master rank scrolls for 18.000 perun sounds like a steal, don't it?" the peddler grinned, his his crooked, yellow teeth on full display.
"It does..." admitted the doctor.
"Right?"
"...If only these scrolls were unused, and undamaged."
"...Say what?" the merchant's smile disappeared almost instantly.
"Not only are these scrolls of lackluster quality, I'd say that they were already used before, recharged with mana and resealed." claimed the doctor, his voice missing its previous enthusiasm.
