Two guardsmen stood at the gates of Lyugo. One was a docile-looking young man, the other a middle-aged man with a greying moustache. They clenched onto their spears as they anxiously looked towards the forest across the field.
"Do you reckon captain Goldegar and the others will be back soon...?" whispered the younger guard.
"I don't know. It's been just six hours since they left. Give it some time, Justus." insisted the other, feigning calmness.
"B-but... It only takes an hour by foot to reach Mylav..." whined the younger guard. "What if they-"
"THEY... are alright. Alright?" snapped the other guard.
"Gyah! A-alright!"
"S-sorry about that... I'm also worried, okay?"
"It's fine..." murmured the younger guard. "But you are probably right. I mean, all three of the skyborn went. And.. and they have that goblin doctor with them!"
"He's not a goblin doctor."
"Hm?"
"He isn't a goblin doctor. Calling him that implies that he cures goblins." reasoned the older guard in a raspy voice.
"Well... what would you call him, then?"
"Hmm... perhaps doctor of goblins? No, that implies the same thing..." concluded the guard.
"Look over there!" yelled out the other guard, pointing at the edge of the forest.
The older guard looks up, seeing several cards and footmen exit the forest.
"Egregious!" he exclaimed. "Justus, go inform the mayor!"
"A-aye!" the younger guard saluted as he ran into Lyugo.
Once at the gates, the force from Mylav is greeted by a dozen ecstatic guardsmen.
Having left with merely one empty cart and returning with four carriages full of goods, three of which were drawn by newly acquired oxen, the group needed no words to declare their expedition a success. People near the gates watched in awe as the packed carts rolled into town.
"Once again, well done my friends." the doctor turned to the adventurers as they halted near the gates. An uncanny grin was on the man's face, but the group showed no unease, having grown used to his crooked, unusual teeth.
"The guard captain and I shall organise a force to travel back to Mylav and gather any remaining animals and goods. I will also give my report to the major and make sure all of you get proper compensation for your efforts-on top of the already established sum, that is. You may unwind for the time being. I hope to see you at the tavern this evening."
"You got it, Doc!" Itten exclaimed enthusiastically, giving the short man a thumbs up.
"Alright, dismissed." the doctor nodded as he turned away, walking off somewhere. Ovro silently followed after him.
"My friends! My heroes!" Goldegar grinned proudly, assuming the spot where the doctor just stood.
"Tonight we shall wet our throats with the sweet ale of triumph! But until then, more work needs to be done!" he shouted vigorously as he gave the group a salute before finally walking after the doctor and Ovro.
The four guards who accompanied Goldegar as backup began moving as well, one of them tugging on the leash of the foremost ox.
"Oh!" Gabriel yelped out of nowhere, slightly startling the group. "I have stuff. See you guys tonight!" he claimed as he jogged off into the crowd.
