Back at the popular inn owned by Kyla, the twilight sky summoned yet another full house. One of the tables was occupied by 5 adventurers.
"I'm telling you!"
Itten slammed his fists against the table as he stood up.
"The goblin I saw was totally yellow! I'm sure!"
"How is it that whenever a yellow goblin shows up, you're the only one to see him?" Ivan asked, a hint of mockery in his voice.
"No, no, Ivan!"
Itten quickly sat down, leaning across the table.
"This time... he winked at me this time..." he whispered, his voice trembling.
Ivan tilted his head away ever so slightly, glancing over at Itten.
"He winked at you?"
"Yes... From the field, as I worked on the roof." Itten continued.
"The field isn't necessarily close to the house you worked on." Sekou spoke up after taking a sip of his drink. "How can you be sure it was a goblin?"
"Yeah." Ivan nodded in agreement. "It could've been a yellow... something else."
"Yellow jackalope." Lynn added.
"Yellow jackalope!" Ivan snapped his fingers.
"How could you see that it was winking from so far away?" Sekou questioned.
"No- guys! My vision blurred and then then it became super focused on the goblin, it made it larger! Why won't you believe me?"
As Itten was rambling on, Ivan caught a certain streak of red hair in his peripheral vision.
There she was: a tall girl with bright red hair, serving ale to a full table.
Ivan's eyes remained focused on her for a couple of seconds until the girl noticed him. Their eyes locked for no more than a second and she was already rushing off into the crowd.
"Ah---"
Rishia, who was comforting Itten with passionate pats to his shoulder, turned to Ivan.
"Something the matter?" the girl asked.
"Hm? Oh no, it's just... Ira. She's been dodging me like the plague for the last... well, ever since the battle, really." he explained.
"Dodging you?" Rishia repeated.
"Exactly. Like, she'd literally just turn the other way and walk fast any time we ran into each other. At the market, on the streets..."
"I was under the belief she never liked you to begin with." Itten commented. "What's changed?"
"We used to actually talk before. At one point we've gotten on good terms, too."
"Have you talked to her since the battle?" Lynn asked. "She was looking for you on the day of the battle."
"Yeah, I remember you telling me that. I've tried talking to her but she's just been giving me the cold shoulder."
"Aye, I've seen this once before!"
A deep voice emerged from behind Ivan. The whole table turned to find Goldegar dressed in a plain brown tunic, his right arm wrapped in bandages and suppored by a sling.
"Shouldn't you be in bed?" Lynn asked.
"Nay. I've healed enough to walk. Soon, I will swing my sword once more!" Goldegar exclaimed, swinging his healthy arm.
