Elsa stood in the kitchen drying the plates as she helped Grace around the room, she kept falling into a deep zoned out stage where she would hear the causal muffling of people around her. That wasn't until Grace turned to her side and started to notice that Elsa was unusually quiet, she'd also noticed that she was wearing a long leather jacket that was somewhat big for her over the black dress and concluded that must be Jacks.
Grace "Hey Els, are you alright?" she asked with concern.
Elsa "Mmm?" she said.
Grace "I said are you okay?" she asked again.
Elsa "Oh ermmm...yeah I'm okay." She snapped out of her trance slightly.
Grace "Are you sure? You seem to be zoning out a lot."
Elsa's hand swept over one of the plates wiping it clean until she placed it down only to realise that she kept zoning out still. Grace pulled her hands out the water rinsing them off and wiping them clean as she took a step beside her and placed a hand on Elsa's shoulder only for her to flinch away at the sudden touch of someone who wasn't Jack.
Elsa "Sorry..." she looked down to the floor in shame.
Grace "No don't be I'm the one who's sorry, do you want me to go get my dad or Jack?" she asked pulling her hand away quickly.
Elsa "No I ...." She was suddenly cut off by a voice behind her.
Nick "It's okay kiddo I wanna talk to Elsa anyways, why don't you go help Jack with Ellie?" he asked.
Grace "Sure" she smiled walking out the room and towards the living area.
Nick walked over to where Elsa was as she looked up from the floor, her eyes were coated in a glassy look and that when he knew instantly that something was wrong.
Nick "Hey Elsa, are you alright?"
Elsa nodded not knowing what to say as she looked to the floor again.
Nick "Do you think you feel comfortable enough to talk to me in my office down the hall?" he gestured.
Elsa "Yeah." She nodded again.
Nick "Are you sure? You could bring Jack if you feel more comfortable" he reassured her.
Elsa "I'm okay, I trust you."
Nick started to walk towards his office that was now the big wide-open hall, Elsa looked at the decorations as she walked behind him seeing the flowery wallpaper that had been clearly picked by his wife. They stepped into the office as Nick walked over to his desk pulling one of the chairs closer together as he sat down on one of them. Elsa looked behind her as she bit the inside of her cheek from the nerves that took over.
Nick "You can close the door if you want its up to you."
Elsa hesitated for a moment until she closed it and walked slowly to the chair beside Nick who was watching her carefully. She hugged herself tightly as she took a seat beside him and as she looked down to the floor, she couldn't help but feel the acid that burnt the back of her throat.
Nick "Do you zone out a lot?" he asked.
Elsa "I can't help it..." she whispered.
Nick "Mmm it is a common side effect of trauma." He hummed.
Elsa "It is?"
Nick "Yeah, look I have something for you." He stood up from the chair walking behind is desk where he pulled on one of the draws.
Taking out a container he closed the draw shut again and as he swiftly walked over and sat back down Elsa looked up from the floor meeting the gaze of Nick. He slowly handed the bottle of medication over while Elsa took it from him with ease and as she read the description on the front her heart raced against her chest.
