Elsa and Jack stepped into their apartment; they had not long left the hospital and separated ways from the others who had been one by one heading home after checking in on Nick. Jack slipped his leather Jacket from his shoulders and throw it over one of the breakfast bars stools. "Why didn't you tell me where you'd gone to?" he asked breaking the silence between them.
Elsa ran her fingers over the couch before taking a seat as she heard the question of Jack leave his lips, her mind not wanting to give him an answer. "Where did your parents go to?" she replied avoiding the question.
"They headed to a hotel while I tried looking for you, Elsa answer the question why didn't you tell me?" he responded seriously.
Elsa shrugged. "I just needed to...get my revenge...." Elsa's shoulders tensed, and a glimmer of anger flickered in her eyes. Her voice, though soft, carried a hard edge. "Jack, I needed to get my revenge because he couldn't just get away with what he'd done to my family and to me. After everything that happened with his experiments he needed to be taught a lesson."
Jack "I get that Elsa, but what if you had been hurt in the process like Nick? I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I didn't get there in time." He sighed imagining the worse of what could have happened.
Elsa "I would have rather been hurt than Nick!" she stood from the couch gesturing in the air as she placed both hands on either side of her temples.
Jack "And I wouldn't! imagine how I would feel? I don't want to lose you, I love you!" He exclaimed stepping closer towards her. Her words hung heavy in the air, the tension between them almost tangible. Jack ran a hand through his hair, pacing restlessly before finally stopping to face her.
Elsa "I know! I- I love you too..." she fell silent not knowing what to say in the moment that fell between them. "I'm sorry...I just....it's finally over..." she sat again the tears flooding down her cheeks.
Jack "I know.... He deserved to die for what he did to you and your family." He sat beside her.
"I feel like for the first time in a long time, I can finally breath knowing he's not out there anymore...knowing he wont ever hurt anyone including the people I love." She wiped her tears from her cheek looking up at Jack.
Jack reached out, gently taking her hand in his, his thumb tracing small circles across her knuckles in a silent gesture of comfort. "you've lost so much, Elsa. But we've still got each other, and that's what matters now, and that it's over." he whispered. The weight of the night settled around them, but in that quiet moment, a sense of hope began to flicker between the cracks of their shared grief for everything that had happened in the past.
"I'm sorry, I didn't tell you where I went...I just needed to go..." she shook her head as she then placed it onto Jacks shoulder.
Jack "I was really worried that's all." Jack wrapped his arm around her, holding her close as if to shield her from any lingering shadows of the past that had come to an end. For a moment, they simply sat together, the silence speaking more than words could. Elsa's breath began to steady, soothed by his presence, and Jack pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, promising silently that he would always be there for her.
Elsa felt herself move looking up at him while she pressed his lips against his with passion and love knowing now that she could move on with her life without that terrible human being invading her every thought in the waking hour and night.
Elsa closed her eyes as she kissed him continuously, letting the quiet in the room wrap around them like a soft blanket. She felt her heartbeat gradually slow, the chaos of the past few days finally beginning to ebb away. Jack kissed back with fiery passion as he'd never kissed her before, he pulled her closer to his body knowing in some way how this was going to end.
After a long pause, Elsa glanced up at Jack, her cheeks still glistening with tears but her eyes now clearer. She hesitated, searching his face for reassurance. "Jack," she whispered, her voice trembling with vulnerability, "would it... would it be alright if....." she stuttered growing nervous at asking for what she wanted right now.
Jack smiled softly, his own heart aching with tenderness. He nodded, drawing her in as he stood from the couch. Her knee's leaning on the couch as she reached up to him and wrapped her arms around his neck, he wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her in close once again as he kissed her sweetly but passionately. He picked her up as he legs tightly hung to his waist never letting go as he walked towards the bedroom.......
Elsa laid there in Jacks arms afterwards embracing the love and warmth of Jacks touch and comfort as he laid there smiling like an idiot of their unexpected moment. "I love you." Elsa blushed saying the words that came to mind.
Jack "I love you too." He smiled again hugging her side tighter.
The two fell silent again no words needed to be said as the love filled the room, but the silence was caught short when Jacks mind started to swirl with nervousness.
"Can I ask you a question? His heart fluttered.
Elsa "Of course, what is it?" she replied.
Jack "Will...You marry me?"
For a heartbeat, Elsa was utterly still, the world narrowing to the gentle glow of the room and Jack's earnest eyes searching her face. Her breath caught, a trembling smile breaking through as the weight of his question settled upon her. Tears welled anew, but this time they sparkled with joy.
She laughed softly—a delicate, surprised sound—and brought her hand to her mouth, almost in disbelief. "Jack..." she whispered, her voice thick with emotion, "yes. Yes, I'll marry you."
Jack's relief was almost visible, the tension melting from his body as he pulled her close, pressing his forehead to hers. The love between them, unspoken yet overwhelming, filled the silence as they simply held each other—hearts pounding, futures unfolding, together at last.
Jack "Are you sure?" he asked.
Elsa "Yes I'm sure Jack, I will marry you." she kissed him.
They lingered in that embrace, time seeming to pause as their shared happiness settled warmly around them. Elsa's fingers found Jack's, intertwining them, as they both laughed softly, the nervousness fading into playful joy. In that moment, their hopes for the future blossomed, quietly promising a lifetime of love and laughter to come.
