Strangers - Kenya Grace
Carrie's POV
Everyone had dressed up for the event that was happening. As I walked through the hallway I felt underdressed, infact I felt under everything. I barely put a thought into my outfit for the night, I was on a basic baggy blue jeans and a white crop top paired with a white sneakers.
What had been bugging me all through the night was whether I should meet Nathan or not. I knew that meeting him ended with one thing and that was me in pain. I walked into the auditorium and saw the beautiful decorations put up, Avery had outdone herself. It looked very beautiful nd full of life unlike me. The dj had started playing music and few seniors were there.
"Hey Carrie" Some of my classmates greeted as they passed by me to mingle with the growing crowd.
"Hey" I softly replied
"Carrie" Dele shouted pulling me into a hug "omo guy I don dey vex for you oo, you haven't been yourself lately oo and me I sha miss my smallie".
I smiled at Dele's antics "I am fine though".
He pulled away but kept h8s hands on my shoulders "You will tell me if someone is bothering you right".
"Right" I lied through my teeth and he smiled at me before leaving.
....
The whole auditorium was packed by now, there were few matrons around to make sure we don't do anything nasty but even that couldn't stop some horny teenagers from going at each other. The whole air smelled like couples to me and I realised as I lookednat couples being all lovey dovey that I wanted that, I wanted to be loved with everything in me. I thought my relationship with Kamsy was toxic but with Nathan it's hell.
"You look cute" someone commented snapping me out of my reveriI turned to look at the person "Hey Oscar, you don't look so bad yourself".
He put his hand on his chest dramatically "I look good for your information".
I laughed at his foolishness and for a minute it felt like old times.
"It's good to hear you laugh, it's been so long Car. What's killed the light inside you?" He asked.
I opened my mouth to reply but no words came out, I couldn't say anything because what could I even say. I had exhausted all my lies.
"Oscar" Dafe shouted and I was thankful for the distraction.
"Later Car" Oscar said kissing my forehead before he left.
I decided to avoid any sort of confrontation so I went to sit at a corner. I felt the familiar beep of my phone.
Alex❤️🩹
I am waiting 🩶
I smiled at Alex's until I saw Nathan's own and the blood completely drained from my face.
