"So starting Monday, you will be working as the assistant to the VP of Interoffice Affairs." Joseph and Laura sat in a meeting with Jenna.
"Is there a problem?"
"We just feel as though your talents will be better used in that department." Jenna looked at both of them.
"Has Toni complained about me?"
"Have you done something that would require a complaint?"
"N..No."
"Then there was no complaint. We just like to make sure that our personnel are in the best position for success."
"Okay. Who will be replacing me?"
"That's not important. I suggest you put your focus on learning your new position. I have already informed Ms. Ross of your arrival and she is expecting you to stop by today for an introduction."
"Ms. Ross?"
"Yes. I believe you know her."
"I do."
"Good, then all will work out." Jenna tried her best to hid her annoyance.
"Yes, it will."
"Awesome! Congratulations on your new position. You can make your way over to Ms. Ross now." Joseph stood up and held out his hand. Jenna knew better than to act out of turn so she stood and shook it.
"Thank you, Mr. Jackson."
"You're welcome." Jenna looked at him and Laura one last time before turning to leave. When she left out and the door closed, Joseph turned to Laura and smiled.
"And that's how you handle that." They high five. "Think she's gonna move in on Toni. I don't think so." He snapped and Laura laughed.
"You've been hanging with Toya haven't you?"
"Yeah, her and Toni's baby sister, Tamar. They're very animated."
"I'm sure they are." A knock came to the office door.
"Come in." The door opened and a small woman with big hair came in. "Diana." Joseph stood to hug her.
"Hello, Joseph." She patted his back. They pulled apart and sat down.
"What can I do for you?"
"I just came to make sure my new assistant is ready."
"She is. In fact, she's making her way to that department now."
"Perfect, and don't worry, I've already briefed Ivan. She won't be handling anything that deals with any serious information."
"Good. The only reason she's still here is so that she can pay for school."
"Really? That's so nice of you."
"Hey, I'm not a cold blooded person, this is a favor to one of my children. However, if she goes too far and there's a legal complaint, then I will have to take things further."
"As you should." said Laura.
"Anyway, beautiful. How's your day going?" Diana spoke to Laura.
"It's going good."
"I'm sure it is." Joseph turned his nose up.
"Don't flirt in my office."
"Oppp...Diana let's go, before the Bishop starts pulling out the blessed oil." Diana stood up and headed out. Laura followed her.
"Laura, we have a meeting at 11. I expect you back and presentable by then." She smiled.
"Of course, Mr. Jackson." Diana held the door open for her. "Diana, act right." She stuck her tongue out and left. Joseph shook his head and went back to work.
