It had been a few days since Gabby had been back with Toni and Janet and they had been healing nicely. Janet was still at the facility with Gabby and Toni would come to spend the day and some nights with them. Dr. Holte wanted to give Janet a safe space to get readjusted to being with Gabby. Even though it was only a week, it was still going to be a hard adjustment, but Janet was working through it pretty well. "Hi, pretty girl." Gabby kicked her legs.
"Ah!" Janet picked her up and kissed her cheeks.
"You ready to get cleaned up?" She went into the bathroom and removed Gabby's clothes. Since the facility didn't have a bathtub, she washed Gabby up in the sink. "Mama's gonna be so happy to see you. She missed you all night." Gabby hit the water as Janet cleaned her. She was going to be seven months soon and would be celebrating her first Christmas. The hope was that they would be home by then.
Janet wrapped Gabby in a little towel and took her back into the bedroom area. She moisturized her up and put a cute onesie on. Toni had found some new cute things for her. She gently brushed her little curls and put the baby products in, which Gabby hated. The entire time Janet tried to fix her hair, she moved around and cried. Eventually Janet got her hair looking nice and turned her around. "Now why you doing all that?" Gabby had small tears on her face. "Just doing so much." Janet hugged her and rubbed her back as she calmed down.
A knock came on the door and Janet went to open it. Toni stood on the other side with a couple of food bags. "Good morning." They shared a small kiss and she came in.
"How's my favorite ladies?" She sat the food down and took her jacket off.
"I'm good, but little mamas here just got done with a tantrum." Toni turned and took Gabby in her arms.
"Why you throwing temper tantrums?"
"She didn't want to get her hair done?"
"Why? You're so gorgeous with it done." She kissed her cheeks and Gabby squealed. "Look at the princess." Janet watched Toni interact with Gabby and she smiled. She loved them as parents. "How about we eat before you're late for your sessions?" They sat down at the table and Toni took the food out. She had brought Janet her favorite, pancakes and eggs with strawberries.
They set everything up and began to eat. Gabby sat on Toni's lap and watched as they ate. Every time Toni brought something to her mouth, she reached for it. "Ah!" They looked at her.
"No, you can't have this. You're still small." She looked at Toni with a confused look then tried to reach for the food. "No." She fell out and started crying. Toni sat her things down and held her up. Her legs kicked all over the place and she waved her arms. "Stop all that. Shhh." Tears fell from her eyes.
"Give her here." Janet held her hands out.
"I got her." Toni sat Gabby back down on her lap and grabbed a small piece of egg. "Here." She held it to Gabby's mouth. When she realized what it was, she stopped crying and opened her mouth. She chewed it slowly and looked at Toni. "Good, huh?" Gabby smacked her lips.
"You're so weak with her." said Janet. They looked at each other and laughed.
"I can't deny my princess. Just like I can't deny my Queen." Janet smiled. "I can't wait to have a house full." Janet sat her fork down and sat up.
"Toni, we need to talk." Toni took in Janet's body language and sat up.
"What's wrong?"
"Umm...I missed my period."
"When?"
"It's been six weeks."
"Did you take a test?"
