"Jenna! Where are you going?!" Diana shouted from her office. Jenna jumped and turned around.
"I'm just going to..."
"Your desk, because I know you have work to do." Jenna held back her emotions.
"But.."
"Now!" Jenna went back to her desk and sat down. She sighed and logged back onto her computer.
"It's cool, girl. Sometimes she has bad days." said Ivan. He rolled his chair over to her desk.
"Why doesn't she have these with you?"
"I've worked for her for a while. I've learned when to avoid her and just play it by the book."
"Hmmm.." Ivan side eyed her.
"You've been kind of out of it these last couple of weeks. You good?"
"Yeah."
"You sure?" Her eyes shifted.
"Yeah." Jenna didn't want to say anything. She knew what it meant to share information, but she trusted Ivan. "Okay, so....you can't tell anyone because I'm technically not supposed to know." Ivan scooted in.
"Ohhh...yea. Spill."
"So...I overheard some information about the company."
"Omg."
"I heard that they're running out of money." He wanted to smile.
"I heard that too. I also heard that Bishop Jackson may be selling the company to a business owned by Pastor DeBarge." Jenna's eyes lit up.
"Seriously?"
"Yep." Ivan smirked. She was so gullible. "I also heard that they're having a private meeting next week. Bishop doesn't want anyone to know. He's going to make up some crazy story about how he's getting out of the business and selling to a family friend who will keep up the morals.
"Wow."
"I think everyone's going to lose their job too. It's really sad though. I'm mean for the Bishop, someone who uplifts God is going to do something dirty like this. I personally think that he's been funneling money from the church to fund the company."
"What a shame."
"But you didn't hear any of that from me. Plus it's all speculation anyway. This could be a lie." Jenna nodded. "But let me get back to work before Ms. Ross comes back out here." They chuckled and Ivan went back to his desk. Looking back, he saw Diana peeking from her office. He gave her a thumbs up and she smiled.
At her desk, Jenna was writing down everything Ivan had just said and sent a quick text message. Although Ivan said the information may not be true, the information she found on his desk a couple weeks ago supported everything he said. This was going to be great.
"Okay, baby. I really have to get back to work." Toni held Janet's waist as she sat on her desk.
"But I'm gonna miss you?"
"I'll be home in a few hours." Janet whined and moved into Toni's lap. "Baby." Janet laid on her shoulder.
"Why can't you leave early?"
"Because I have to finish this report." Janet nuzzled into Toni's neck. "Sweetie, what's going on?"
"What do you mean?"
"You're up here everyday twice a day and you sit here. I come home and you're extra attentive to me and the baby. You're always wearing this....outfit now and..." she rubbed a finger on Janet's face. "...what's all this makeup you've been wearing?"
