Janet moved around the kitchen in excitement. She had gotten up early that morning to get everything ready. Although her body hurt and her back was killing her she pushed through to be able give her baby girl a great first birthday. She finished frosting a cupcake and began decorating it. "Okay, princess. Now we go into the kitchen and see your mommy here making your birthday surprise." Toni came into the kitchen with a video camera. "Mommy, what are we making?" Janet smiled.

"Well, our princess likes chocolate cake, so...I made her a chocolate cupcake with strawberry frosting. It's for later on, but for breakfast..." Janet turned and picked up a plate. "I got my baby bear shaped pancakes with syrup, eggs, and fruit."

"And what else?"

"Her morning present. She'll get more later."

"Let's go wake her up." Janet left out of the kitchen with Toni following behind with the camera. When they reached Gabby's room, Janet shushed Toni before opening the door. They went in and saw Gabby, already awake, standing up on the side of her crib. "Look who's already awake." She smiled and bounced when she saw Janet and Toni. They went over to the crib and Janet picked her up.

"I guess she knows it's her birthday and was excited. Happy Birthday." Gabby bounced in Janet's arms and grabbed her face.

"Ma.." Janet laughed.

"Let's go downstairs." Janet carried Gabby down the stairs before putting her down. She squatted down to her and held her. "Okay, mommy and mama have a big surprise in the kitchen for you. Are you ready?" Gabby stomped her feet. "Okay." Janet got up and led her into the kitchen where she had a bunch of balloons blown up with a small banner on the wall. The entrance to the kitchen had streamers to walk through before you saw everything. Gabby walked through and immediately looked around. Toni rushed in front of her with the camera.

"Happy Birthday!" Janet and Toni said at the same time. Gabby squealed and grabbed one of the balloons. When she saw the rest of them, she kept running and hitting them. She laughed and screamed as she played. Janet picked up a few and hit them in the air so Gabby could chase them. It made her so happy and Toni caught all of it on video.

"Here, baby..." Janet got up from her chair. "Let me hold the camera so you can play with her." Toni gave Janet the camera and got down on the floor. Gabby immediately started hitting Toni with the balloons. "Why does she always want to hit me?" Gabby took a balloon and hit it Toni in the face with it. "Oww." Gabby laughed hard and did it again. "Oww." Gabby laughed so hard that she fell on the floor. Toni grabbed her by her legs and pulled her closer then hit her gently with the balloon on her face making her laugh even more.

"You two are so cute." Gabby pulled herself up and went into Toni's lap and hugged her. Janet got closer with the camera. "Awww....see, Toni she still loves you." Toni kissed Gabby's cheeks before getting up.

"Time for breakfast." Janet set the camera up on the counter while Toni put Gabby in her highchair. She grabbed the breakfast she made for Gabby and gave it to her.

"Birthday girl's breakfast." Gabby immediately went in to eat it. "Wait." Janet grabbed her little hands. "We have to pray first." Gabby looked at them with a blank stare. Toni held back a laugh. Janet closed her eyes and prayed. "Jesus, thank you for blessing our family and our home. We thank you for protecting Gabby from all of the dangers she has gone through for her to make it to her first birthday. We pray for continued protection for us as well as our newest addition. Continue to bless us and have mercy on us. Amen." Janet opened her eyes and looked at Gabby. "Can you say, Amen?" Gabby pulled her hands away and began to eat her breakfast.

"There's your answer." They laughed and Toni turned off the camera. "What do you want for breakfast, baby?" Toni went to the fridge. "Babe..." Janet didn't answer. Toni turned around and saw her crying. "Baby.." She went and hugged her. "What's wrong?"
