"Toni, stop!" Janet ran through the sand as she avoided Toni's clutches. "I'm serious!" Toni caught up to her and scooped her up.

"What? You like swimming." Toni threw Janet over her shoulder and went to the water.

"Toni! No!" Janet hit Toni's back. Toni went into the water and pretended to drop Janet. "Ah!" She chuckled and put her on her feet.

"See, doing all the screaming for nothing." Janet smiled and moved her feet through the water.

"You scared me."

"I'm sorry." Toni held Janet's waist. "Come on." She pulled her into her lap as she sat down and let the water rushed over them. "How are you feeling?"

"I feel good." Toni tilted her head.

"Janet..." she looked down.

"I will feel good at some point. Hopefully soon."

"Talk to me." Janet sighed.

"Why did you marry me?" She looked at Toni. "Was it only because I was pregnant?"

"No. Remember we got engaged before we found out you were pregnant."

"I know, but would the wedding have happened
if I wasn't?"

"Yes. It would've. It would've happened legally after you graduated college, but we would've had a ceremony. I knew I wanted to spend my life with you. Pregnancy or not." She sighed.

"I just worry that....someone better will come along and I'll be left alone and..."

"That'll never happen."

"Toni, we don't know what the future holds. We don't know how things will turn out."

"Exactly, and that's why I want you. Because I know that no matter what the future holds for us, we will always have each other. I want to go through everything with you." A small smile came on Janet's face.

"You really do?"

"Of course. There no one else that I want to be exhausted and stressed and mad with." Janet laughed.

"I'm not gonna stress you out."

"Girl! You already stressing me out. Asking if I really love you and shit." Toni threw her arms up. "I mean....am I not enough?" She put her hand on her chest.

"Toni, cut it out."

"No." She made a dramatic face. "No, it's okay. I'll find a way to go on." She put the back of her hand on her forehead and looked away. "Oh, Janet how could you?" She fell back dramatically into the water. Janet laughed harder.

"Toni, come on."

"No, just let the waves take me away to somewhere far where I can be one with the wind and sea. What is life? Why am I here?" Janet's stomach started hurting.

"You're so stupid." Toni sat up and held Janet's waist.

"You feel better?"

"Yes."

"Good." Janet sighed and looked at the view of the sky over the ocean. She loved it here. If she could, she would be at the beach everyday. She felt connected to it. For some reason, it calmed her.

"Remember when you first brought me to the beach?" She looked at Toni.

"Yeah. You were so happy."

"I don't think I ever told you how much I appreciated that. You showed me something so much bigger than me. It made me feel so....small and I liked it."
