"Toni!" Janet called out from the bathroom. "Toni!" Toni ran from the upstairs living room and into their bedroom.
"What's wrong? Where are you?"
"I'm in the bathroom." Toni went in and saw Janet on the toilet. "Can you help me get up?"
"Sure." Toni pulled Janet up. She fixed her clothes and Janet flushed then washed her hands.
"Thank you, baby." They made their way back into the bedroom and sat on the couch in the bedroom. Toni moved some of the baby clothes that Janet was working with over so she could sit down. "It's getting so much harder to move around. I can't wait to have this baby."
"I know." Janet grabbed the baby clothes and continued organizing them. "Are you feeling any pressure that the doctor talked about?"
"Yeah, but not enough to be concerned." She put some of the clothes on the baby hangers and sat them to the side. Toni assisted by moving some of the finished clothes out of the way so she could have space.
"Where are you putting these?"
"The ones I'm hanging are more outer wear for when the baby gets older to hang in the nursery closet. I'm folding up the onesies and sleeping clothes to keep in here since."
"Cool."
"Then, I'm gonna get started on sterilizing these bottles."
"What about the other stuff? When do you want me to put those together?"
"Let's wait until the baby gets here. There won't be a lot of swinging and all that immediately anyway."
"Okay. I'll take these into the nursery."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome." Toni took the clothes that were finished into the nursery and hung them up. It had been beautifully decorated with Janet and Toni's ideas. Joseph had taken so much time out of his schedule to help. He even had air filters built into the baby's room as well as Toni and Janet's room. Toni picked out nice recliners for them to be able to sit in when rocking the baby. The room was decorated with gender neutral colors. The baby's bed was easily convertible from a crib to a toddler bed and had a changing table attached. As time went on, there would be a space for toys and everything, but for now it just had essentials.
Once she hung everything up, Toni went back into the bedroom. Janet was now finished folding the clothes and had them set up where she wanted them. Now she was sitting on the bed. "Hey, you all done?"
"For now." Toni sat up against the headboard next to her and rubbed her back.
"How you feeling?"
"I'm good. Just excited for our baby to get here." She laid on Toni's shoulder as Toni wrapped her arm around her and used her other hand to gently rub Janet's belly. She only had on a sports bra and joggers.
"Me too." They sighed. "I still can't believe you want a home birth."
"Yeah. It's just that, I don't want to be under a bunch of anxiety and stress when in labor. The hospital is cold and full of a bunch of beeping machines. I'll be freaked out. I want to be in my comfort space with our family."
"I get that."
"Have you been staying up on your research?"
"Yep, I know all my duties for the birth and the midwife is always reminding me."
"Good. Did you get the pool?"
"I did. We're going to set it up in the baby's nursery. Your mother suggested putting it in the upstairs living room, but your father wanted you to have the option to have the door closed."
