Daylight

"And I can still see it all (in my head)
Back and forth from New York (sneaking in your bed)
I once believed love would be (burning red)
But it's golden"

The rooftop had always been Leehan's sanctuary-a place where the world seemed far away and the noise inside his head could finally settle. Wrapped in a blanket of fading night, he stared at the first streaks of pink and gold brushing the horizon. His coffee had long gone cold, but he didn't move.

He was lost in thoughts that felt like storms. Memories of old wounds and lingering doubts still clung to him like shadows.

"I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you."

The familiar voice pulled him from his reverie. Taesan stood in the doorway, framed by the dim light of the stairwell. He wasn't smiling, but his eyes-their warmth-spoke volumes.

"You're up early," Taesan continued, stepping closer. "Or should I say you didn't sleep again?"

Leehan exhaled a small, wry laugh. "Guilty."

Taesan sat down beside him, close enough that their knees brushed. The quiet settled around them again, broken only by the soft rustling of the breeze.

"Years of tearing down our banners, you and I," Leehan murmured, more to himself than Taesan. "It's hard to let go of things that once defined you."

Taesan tilted his head, studying him. "You mean the pain?"

"The pain," Leehan agreed, his voice barely above a whisper. "The fear. The mistakes. I held onto them for so long, they became a part of me. I thought that's what love was supposed to be-consuming, all-or-nothing, burning red."

Taesan leaned back on his hands, his gaze drifting to the sky. "But love shouldn't be a war, Leehan. It's not supposed to hurt like that."

"I know that now," Leehan said, turning to meet Taesan's eyes. "You showed me that. With you...it feels golden. Like sunlight."

For a moment, Taesan didn't respond. Then, with a quiet chuckle, he shook his head. "You're really quoting poetry to me at dawn?"

Leehan's cheeks warmed, but he didn't look away. "Maybe. Or maybe I'm just finally saying what I've been too scared to admit."

Taesan's expression softened, the teasing edge giving way to something deeper, more profound. He reached out, his fingers brushing against Leehan's.

"Like daylight," Taesan said, his voice low and steady. "You're what I needed all along. I just had to step out of the shadows to find you."

Leehan's breath hitched as Taesan's hand found his, their fingers intertwining.

"I don't wanna think of anything else now that I thought of you," Taesan whispered, his words sinking into the stillness around them.

Leehan closed his eyes, the weight of Taesan's presence grounding him. He could feel the warmth of the sun climbing higher, chasing away the cold night.

"I once believed love would be burning red," Leehan admitted, his voice thick with emotion. "But it's golden, like daylight. You're golden."

The words hung between them, raw and vulnerable. Taesan reached out, his palm cupping Leehan's cheek.

"You are too," Taesan murmured before leaning in, their foreheads touching. "You've always been golden, Leehan. You just needed to see it for yourself."

As the sun broke fully over the horizon, painting the city in light, Taesan closed the distance, their lips meeting in a kiss that was both gentle and full of promises.

Leehan felt the warmth of it seep into his very soul, like sunlight after a long, dark night.

"I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you," Taesan whispered again, pulling back just enough to meet Leehan's eyes.

Leehan smiled-a real, unguarded smile. "And I don't wanna think of anything else now that I thought of you."

For the first time in forever, Leehan felt free.

And as the golden light bathed them, he realized he didn't have to chase the sun anymore. He'd already found it in Taesan.
