I know what they all say, yeah
But I ain't tryna playI wanna be your endgame (endgame)
I wanna be your first string (wanna be your first string)
The crowd outside the award show was deafening, chanting BOYNEXTDOOR's name. Taesan and Leehan stood in the shadowed corner backstage, hidden from the cameras and the fans. The group had just won a major award, but Taesan's attention was glued to Leehan, who was straightening his tie with shaky hands.
"You nervous?" Taesan asked, his voice low but teasing.
Leehan shot him a side glance. "Why wouldn't I be? Millions of eyes are out there."
Taesan smirked, stepping closer. "You know," he said, his tone casual yet deliberate, "I wanna be your endgame."
Leehan froze, his hands pausing mid-adjustment. "What are you talking about?"
"I wanna be your first string," Taesan continued, his eyes locking onto Leehan's. "Your A-Team."
Leehan's lips parted, but no words came out. Instead, he let out a soft scoff, shaking his head. "Big reputation," he muttered under his breath, trying to downplay the heat rising to his cheeks.
Taesan leaned in closer, his breath warm against Leehan's ear. "Ooh, you and me—we got big reputations," he murmured. "And you've heard about me, right?"
Leehan turned to face him fully, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Yeah, I've heard. You've got some big enemies, too."
A laugh escaped Taesan, low and confident. "But you like the bad ones too, don't you?"
Leehan looked away, the faint blush on his cheeks betraying him. "You're impossible," he muttered.
Taesan's smirk deepened. "You're so dope, don't overdose," he teased. "And I'm so stoked, I need a toast."
"Are you done yet?" Leehan tried to sound annoyed, but the corner of his lips quirked upward.
"Not even close," Taesan said, his voice dropping an octave. "I'm one call away, whenever you need me. You know that, right?"
Leehan blinked, the sincerity in Taesan's tone catching him off guard. "You're unbelievable," he muttered.
"And you're my type," Taesan replied without missing a beat. "You hold me down, and I'll protect you with my life."
Leehan's breath hitched as their gazes locked, the noise from the crowd fading into the background. "Taesan..."
"I don't wanna touch you," Taesan said, stepping even closer. "Not if it means being just another ex-love. I don't wanna miss you, Leehan, like the others do."
Leehan's resolve faltered as Taesan leaned in, his lips ghosting over his ear. "I know what they all say," Taesan whispered. "But I ain't tryna play."
A shaky laugh escaped Leehan. "You're really laying it on thick, huh?"
Taesan grinned. "I hit you like, 'Bang.' Admit it, you've felt this too."
Leehan hesitated, then finally whispered, "Maybe."
That was all Taesan needed. Closing the gap between them, he captured Leehan's lips in a kiss that was both desperate and deliberate, as if he had been waiting for this moment forever.
When they finally pulled apart, Leehan's cheeks were flushed, his breathing uneven. "What now?" he asked, his voice barely audible.
Taesan's eyes softened, a rare vulnerability shining through. "Now?" he echoed. "We bury the hatchets but keep maps of where we put 'em. Because I can't let you go, Leehan. Your handprint's on my soul."
